Anytime.
Glad to have been of assistance.
I use this Bluetooth adapter, and W10 installs the driver automatically after a couple of minutes online.

Re: Speed of SSD inside DVD drive caddy ?
wrote: HP wrote the firmware Code so every line of it is 100% "proprietary". This also happens in other laptops made by Lenovo, Toshiba, etc. by the way. Why would HP write the BIOS Code to allow booting from a device not offered on their machine?
Maybe to comply with industry standards? Or to be customer friendly? I agree this is common practice among all notebook makers. And many do the same with their PCs. Just another reason I always build my own and keep pushing for an ATX Form Factor type standard for notebooks. But of course, we will never see that. 😞
Proprietary is NEVER good for the consumer. 😞
RAM upgradation
2 GB RAM already in one slot and another slot is blank. May I fix 4 GB of RAM into blank slot? Will it perform? If no then what should be considered to upgrade RAM? Pls suggest....

Re: RAM upgradation
Hi:
Yes you can do that, but I recommend your end result should be to have 2 x 4 GB installed.
That is because when you install memory in mis-matched capacities, such as 1 x 2 + 1 x 4 GB, the memory only runs in SDR (single data rate) mode.
When you install matched capacity memory for example 2 x 2 GB or 2 x 4 GB, the memory runs in the better performing DDR (dual data rate) mode.
Can I add additional SATA 3 HDD/SSD to my laptop?
Hello everyone,
I'm planning on adding a SATA 3 SSD to my laptop. I see that my laptop has M2 slot filled already with a 256 GB SSD. I can't open it because of the warranty and can't check anywhere if it has got a SATA 3 drive slot too. Thanks so much in advance for your help!
Cheers!
Re: HP Notebook 14Z-AF000 CTO (ENERGY STAR) can barely run
OK, Malcolm.
It is going to be difficult to make the computer a lot more "powerful" as it has the AMD E1-6015 processor.
This is going to be the bottleneck in any upgrade you try to do. Take a look online at the performance of the CPU and we can see it is below even the basic Celeron CPUs.
The CPU is integrated on the motherboard, so to replace it, it would need a motherboard replacement (which could cost more or similar to a new PC). Anyway, let us take a look to get it running better.
First, you will need some extra RAM (2GB is not enough). So, at least a 4GB stick of DDR3L 1600MHz RAM. On page 43 you can see how to install the RAM
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04764000
Next, you could get a cheap SSD and put it in the machine, something like the Kingston A400
I would then perform a clean install of Windows 10 on it (you could also consider something less "hungry" such as Linux Mint which I use on a couple of my PCs)
You can create a bootable USB drive with Windows 10 on it here
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Once installed let it completely update (Settings > Update&Security > Click on Verify for updates)
You could then install HP support assistant for drivers and more, nut the best idea is to install as little as possible, especially any apps that are going to be running in the background.
Now, let us take a look at what the cost would be to replace the motherboard.
On page 18 of the service manual, you can see the various motherboards. You need "UMA graphics memory, non-touch screen models:"
so the most powerful compatible one would be part numbers 814509-001 and 814509-501. If you search online you will find loads from China. You can try to find one of the more powerful ones nearer to you by trying each part number online.
Hope it helps,
David

Re: What is the max RAM I can install in my HP Notebook - 15-ay052nr, X0S22UA#ABA?
You're welcome and thanks. Yes, the SSD will speed up everyday performance. RAM is important in the work you are doing, so you could even go with a 16GB kit (2x8GB) which would then also run in dual channel mode and provide even a little extra speed.
Anyway, join us again and all the best,

External USB Hub blew my motherboard in HP Spectra laptop??
My 6 month old laptop went in to repair with Best Buy Geek Squad and the motherboard was replaced. They said this can be caused by a power surge or power issues. I had a USB hub for a Mac Pro attached to my laptop and it fit and worked fine. A few seconds after plugging it in for the hundredth time my laptop went dead and then I smelled a slight burning.
I always got the standard HP warning that HP recommends using an HP power source when I plugged it in. I looked on their website and they don't even manufacture their own external USB hubs and offer a 3rd party brand.
Could this have blown my motherboard? My laptop is arriving back today and I'm thinking I should buy a new USB hub but it would have to be another third party universal unit. Suggestions?
Re: where is the m.2 SSD slot is present in my laptop ?
Hi,
The service manual mentions support for M2 SATA3 SSD such as the Crucial MX500 or similar.
This is where the slot should be
M2 slot
Sometimes, notebooks that did not come with M2 SSD are missing the physical slot on motherboard. So, if the slot is there, you can install an M2 SATA3 SSD.
If the slot is not present, your only option is to replace the HDD with a 2.5" SATA3 SSD.
You will need to install the OS on the SSD for performance gain.
Hope it helps,
David

Re: Circa 2013 Pavilion DV7, Win7 USB 3.0 Ports - This device can perform faster...if you connect...
Hi!
Thanks for sharing the product details. I have checked the product details the laptop was shipped with USB 3.0 (3 ports) and USB 2.0 (1 port)
If you have connected a USB 3.0 device to a USB 3.0 port, the problem may be that you have used a USB 2.0 cable. USB 3 cables differ from USB 2 cables and have 5 extra pins. A USB 3 device will connect and run in a USB 2 port because it will only use the 4 USB 2.0 compatible pins.
USB 3.0 cables normally are embossed with an 'SS' logo on the connector.
If the issue still persists after trying out the steps. Try performing a system restore to the date when the devices were functioning correctly.
