Thanks for your advice, but updating the chipset didn't solve the problem. The hardware ID for this keyboard (following your instructions, thanks) is: ACPI\VEN_HPQ&DEV_8002. A driver update check said it had the latest driver. A google search brought up some fakey websites and some seemingly old drivers so I'd certainly appreciate it if you can help me find the latest driver and tell me where to get it!

You really should not make any conclusions based on "cloning" performance. Cloning is a very complex, disk intensive operation that involves reading, writing, and verifying small chunks of data at a time. This takes time - especially with large disks. The i3 5010U is not a very quick processor, and 4GB of RAM is not a lot of RAM, especially when some of that is likely stolen... err... being "shared" by the graphics solution. And of course, the OS itself is consuming a lot of CPU and RAM resources during this process too.

The real measure comes when running installed programs from the SSD.

Well, the OP, not me but point taken.

It appears that there are several known issues with that particular keyboard.

After reading some documentation its possible that the newer drivers for the keyboard may have issues with Windows 10.

Give this older driver a try:

When you install it you may get a prompt saying you already have a newer driver installed, but just continue with the installation anyway.  Let me know how it goes.

I have HP 450 G6, when I bough it I was able to lock Fn key as documented by pressing FnKey + leftShift. I upgraded all my HP drivers from hp website and I also upgraded my windows after that I am not able to lock the FnKey any more.

Any Help

No, Im not concluding only on the basis of cloning.

After few attempts at unable to boot from SSD, I dropped the plan of cloning and booting from SSD, and wanted to use SSD as an additional storage for photos/videos. I tried to copy the existing data from main HDD to dvdbay SSD and got the same copy speed of 2-3MB/s, thats when I was skeptical and started searching the net and landed on this forum.

My problem is very slow transfer speed between main HDD to dvdbay SSD on a normal copy paste operation.

You mean an external monitor? OMG yes it would but you can't carry that around with you.

This is not unexpected. On most models any storage disk in that optical bay adapter is not going to be bootable on most models with a very few exceptions that apparently do not include yours. And the interface of the mini-SATA port used for the optical drive can be as slow as SATA-I. 2-3 Mbps is unexpectedly slow, however. I might put try a standard mechanical hard drive in there if you have one. We could likely help get that screw/bolt out so you could get the SSD inside the laptop. So it is stripped?

A technician would tap it by drilling into the screw head with a very fine bit and then trying to pull it up enough to clip the head off if it is just spinning in place. Then you can pull the rest of the screw out with pliers.

downloaded this and ran it; it said "this software is not supported on this system" ??

I could unscrew all but one. The tough screw is near to one of the monitor/battery hinge, not brave to pry it open by force and make the laptop not fit back properly. As of now, I ordered an external enclosure to use the ssd as usb drive 😐.

Again, the real measure is running programs from the SSD, or even saving files to the SSD. Cloning and copying files from a HD to another drive is a totally different process and can take a long time because it involves reading a small chunk of data from the source drive, writing that chunk to the destination drive, then verifying the data was correctly copied. Then the file tables need to be updated too. This again really has very little to do with the fact you are talking about the destination drive being a SSD. I suspect if your destination drive was a HD, you would have similar performance issues.

The hardware/operating system must be too "new" for that to have worked I guess.  I am not able to find much on the the hardware ID you provided.  Would you mind posting the remainder of the IDs that showed up for you?  I'll see what I can find.  In the meantime let's try a few other application installs that have known to fix odd issues like this for me in the past.  Go to the same support page:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-elitebook-x360-1030-g3-notebook-pc/19753388

Expand the Software Solutions section, and try installing the HP Hotkey Support application.  If that doesn't work, then try the HP collaboration keyboard software.  If you aren't prompted to reboot when installing either of these, I would suggest doing it once anyway before testing.

I'll also see what I can find based on your Hardware IDs when you get a chance to post them.

My test case was to have SSD as boot disk, i couldnt achieve it, then second option was to use as an additional internal storage, but that again is not met.

I have added additional storages in PC and disk to disk HDD transfer speeds are faster than usb speeds, but in this case, internal HDD to internal SSD is slower than slowest usb/memory card, which makes it not worthwhile keeping it inside the laptop.

The HDD would be an effort to see if maybe there is an issue with the particular SSD the OP is trying to use. Yes, theoretically the transfer speed to the HDD should be even slower than to an SSD but if its not then maybe an issue with this particular SSD.

The real problem here is that the SSD cannot be booted so it does the OP very little benefit.

Which still begs the question, why? If this notebook cannot boot from the optical drive (or SSD connected to that interface) it seems to me HP made some proprietary change to the firmware. 😞

the other IDs are:

ACPI\HPQ8002

*HP8002

I see the current driver is 10.0.16299.15 dated 6-21-2006!!! Can't imagine why such an old driver is being used!

I've already updated the keyboard collaboration software. Will do the hotkey one now.

Computer frozen and won't restart after BIOS update

I have an HP Notebook Model 15-da0046nr. I started a BIOS update last before going to bed. When I got up this morning I followed the on screen instructions to the letter. My screen immediately went black and has been that way for well over 2 hours. Is this normal or is there something I should do? The on screen instructions said not to interfere with the operation, but I am concerned something has gone wrong. Is there anything I can do?

Last night HP ID Support notified me of four attempts to gain access to my HP account.

I wanted to see if anyone else was being targeted by attempted hacks. Doesn't seem to be a specific forum for this kind of cybersecurity issue.

HP wrote the firmware Code so every line of it is 100% "proprietary". This also happens in other laptops made by Lenovo, Toshiba, etc. by the way. Why would HP write the BIOS Code to allow booting from a device not offered on their machine? It could be written to allow booting from a HDD or SSD in the optical bay but they are under no obligation to write it that way. My task here is to tell people what is actually possible on the ground not speculate about what could be in some alternate world. More useful that way. Nuff said.
