Zbook G2 17 does'nt recognize nvme on boot

Hi, My Zbook G2 17 even if Pcie and start on nvme boot option are flagged on bios and Pcie nvme disk is the first in booting menù, on boot it does'nt recognize this item between the ones that could start nor in F9 menu. I've tryied also with windows 7 64bit (but it does'nt have a Pcie nvme native support, so it's justified), that with windows 10 64bit. In all cases m.2 disk is regularly seen in windows when started with other supports. Better with windows 10 that fully recognize this kind of disk , however under O.S. it's fully working and it's possible to apply all functions to partitions, files etc.

It seems that bios despite to it's choices and commands is not able to recognize nvme support on its start, and I've read of many other cases like mine on Hp laptops but also other notebooks brands having the same problem: some suggest that AHCI and NVme has some important technical and electrical requirements so if bios is lined for the first maybe m.2 could'nt fully recognized at start. Other suggest to try install on nvme Ubuntu (that seems to recognize it) before to install windows on it.

What do you think about it? How I can solve my problem booting windows from Pcie disk?

Thanks

Luca

Good day !!! help solve the problem!Processor AMD A12 9720P 2700 MHz,two video cards-built-in
AMD Radeon R7 Graphics, discrete AMD Radeon 535DXafter updating the driver is defined as AMD Radeon R7 M340.When you start a game, the discrete card does not turn on,as a result, even old games slow down.I tried all the drivers(both old and new, updated Bios)result of zero. There are settings for high performance, but the computer defines the integrated card as more productive.
p.s.One game The Witcher 3 without problems and additional settings includes a discrete video card(as a result,I play at high settings without problems)
Guys help!!!I searched the entire Internet,I know that the problem is common, but no one gave a solution

HARD DISK FAILURE

I got my hard drive replaced and installed by an HP agent in 2017 before my warranty ran out. Laptop has recently been unbearably slow to use. So ran a System test (run from BIOS) on hard drive which shows hard drive failure with a code. So 1) surely the hard drive should've lasted a lot longer than 2years, and 2) do I have any kind of comeback? Appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Hi

So long as you are prepared for a HDD failure, Backups and Recovery Media, then you can pursue the HP question.

Piriform Speccy may give some clues...

Would your values match your expectations?

8760w that restarts by itself

Hi I'm going crazy to solve a big trouble that a month ago began with my 8760w that improvvisely restarts like happens after an electrical or power failure. It does it without any logical and without any particular cause or moment that may identify who's guilty for it. Almost always restarting matches with an udible "tac" as could it hears in the old relays. It does it on bios, on  disks, with or without power charger on, that was the first thing I've tryied to change, invane. Seems that with battery only it does it less but there is no logical or cyclicality on frequency time when it happens: maybe nothing happens for many days working several hours per day than suddently it begins to do. I've tryied to change motherboard and power card button but it also have rebooted one time.  I've to change internal power cord (but it appears healty...) andafter  I don't know what I've to do more.

Latest components that could be guilty are cpu (i7-2760qm) , videocard (that's an Nvidia quadro M3000M), ram sodimms (4 x 4gb), 2xSamsung, 1xKingston, 1xNanja but all 2RX8 PC 12800S, with same timings and voltages). Noone of these have benn recently changed and the latest ram bank added dates back at least an year or more ago. But I never heard that troubles with those components may cause electrical shorts or improvisely black outs.  Whatever the electrical cause or the culprit component, there is no continuity in the behavior and the interruption is very rapid as well as the subsequent restart.

What do you suggest to do now? I can test single ram banks but don't have another videocard or cpu that can fit on it. Do you think them could be guilty for these troubles?

Thanks to all

Luca

Hi! ,

Please share the product number of the PC to assist you better.

Are you using an HP genuine adapter?

Try updating the BIOS and other drivers on the PC to the latest version using HP support assistant.

Refer this article to know more information about using the HP support assistant. Click Here

Please try the steps recommended below.

Try performing a hard reset on the laptop and check if it helps.

Turn off the computer.
Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.
Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
For most laptops, press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds to reset.
If your laptop model is listed below, use the instructions specific to your computer.
Plug the AC adapter back into the laptop computer, but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.
Press the Power button to turn on the computer.
The computer starts normally or a startup menu opens.
If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, and then press the Enter key.
After Windows opens, reconnect each peripheral device that was disconnected, one device at a time, until all devices are reconnected.

Run Power Troubleshooter.

On Cortana, enter  Troubleshooter then select Troubleshooting.
Click Improve power usage to open the window, then click Next.
This should run the troubleshooter and can fix any detected issues. You may try restarting your computer and charge your battery again.

Lastly, try running a battery test using the HP support assistant.

Let me know how it goes!

Take Care! :)

Hi, please can you tell me whether there's any SSD and RAM limitations on the HP Envy 15" BP107NA ?

Also, am i right that it's the M.2 2280 NVME SSD i need? And i saw that you recommended the Samsung SSD, but i came across a online retailer who sells the HP SSD is there any difference in the performance and reliability between the two?

I have the same issue on an

HP x2-Detachable 10-pOxx

It works on Fedora 30 not in Ubuntu

Thanks.

That suggests that my attempt in OpenSuSE was right, and the issue could well be with Ubuntu.

   Dear Echo_Lake,

   Good afternoon.

I read it earlier, but how can I verify that?

I'm sorry, but It seems absurd to me, so enlighten me, please.

P.S.: It would be unacceptable to me to use a video card released on December 2015 when I paid for a video card released on April 2017.

Re: What SSD port interface has motherboard of my laptop

Im allready read all this manual, but there is no answer to my question. Whether specifically my laptop supports  M.2 PCIe or not - is unknown. Honestly, I'm shocked at the terrible quality of the HP documentation.

I need a specification document specifically for my model. But he, judging by everything, simply does not exist.

Thank you for your attention to the question, in any case.

Ryzen 5 2500U Throttling

Hi, I have this problem with my laptop. While playing some non-demanding games (such as League of Legends), the CPU will throttle. Funny thing is that the same thing would happen on IDLE.

CPU temps won't go over 55º C.

I've tried a lot of things and I couldn't fix anything. I'm quite hopeless right now.

BIOS is up-to-date.

As I said earlier, CPU is NOT going over 55º C.

CPU would go from 1.2 to 1,7 GHz on idle.

Power settings are ALL set to MAX performance.

I also tried de HP Support Assistant but it only updated some Bluetooth stuff.

Want to know for the SSD compatibility for my laptop.

Hi,

Your notebook does not have an extra slot for an SSD. What you can do is replace the 2.5" HDD with a 2.5" SSD such as the Samsung 860 Evo or similar. It will give a great boost to everyday performance

Ex:

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-500GB-Internal-MZ-76E500B-AM/dp/B0781Z7Y3S/ref=sxin_1_ac_d_pm?keywords=860+evo&pd_rd_i=B0781Z7Y3S&pd_rd_r=38d858c8-c820-4235-9fc3-6553b3cfe26f&pd_rd_w=UwPAB&pd_rd_wg=XE8h8&pf_rd_p=5cc8abfe-8f78-4f34-b19f-d09d6ea0dca4&pf_rd_r=QQ4ETA2P3BW57R5CAKJ4&qid=1559221924&s=gateway

On page 105 of service manual you can see the steps to replace the drive

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04402649

You will need to reinstall the OS on the SSD.

Hope it helps,

David
