Can I upgrade the SSD on my hp pavilion 14-ce0593sa?

Hello! My hp pavilion 14-ce0593sa has a 128GB SSD, which for the moment is definitely enough storage for what I am using the laptop for, but I was just wondering if I was able to upgrade the SSD on my laptop. Also, what would give a greater impact on the speed of the laptop: upgrading the SSD or ugprading the RAM?

Now that I know the model number, that PC has only the 1TB hard drive and no SSD.  Therefore, the advise I gave in my first post still stands.  If you wish to try a repair, use the new media described in the first post and boot the problem PC to that new media.  Then pick repair instead of install.  If it is repairable that is the way to try.  However, since the hard drive failed the diagnostic, I would conclude the drive will need to be replaced  Windows 10 can be installed using that media and if you need any drivers after the install is completed, here is the support page listing the drivers.

https://support.hp.com/ie-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-15-cc500-laptop-pc/15551393/model/17033917.

At the list if things on the support page, there ia a Recovery Media that can be ordered, it you wish to go that routine instead of the method I described.

Your machine only has 128GB of storage, its specs

     https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06217343

which is TOO small for today standard. You can upgrade to larger capacity SSD using M.2 SSD from Crucial P1 series MX500 series (cheaper and slower). For example

      https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/pavilion-14-ce0068st/CT13106341

      https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/pavilion-14-ce0068st/CT13106375

For RAM, it only has  one slot, you can upgrade to 8GB or 16GB using

     https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/pavilion-14-ce0068st/CT13106409

Note: The manual says:  One SODIMM memory module slot, non-customer-accessible/non-upgradable. But you can upgrade at your own risk

Regards.

We have already discussed this a bit in your other post. You already have an SSD which is pretty fast and upgrading the size (capacity) of the SSD will not make the laptop any faster.  However, the 128 gig M.2 SSD you have is a SATA type and you could get some speed improvement by getting what is called a PCIe/NVME M.2 SSD. Again, however, because your laptop is the lower end Pentium Gold processor I am not certain it can use an NVME M.2. I do believe it can, however. An NVME is faster but I think the extra speed would not be much more than you would get from upgrading from 4 to 8 gigs RAM. If it were my machine I would do both. 8 gigs RAM and a 512 PCie/NVME M.2 SSD is what I would install. The Pentium Gold is the low end of available processors on this model but performs pretty much like an i3 so you could have a pretty fast little machine for a pretty reasonable investment overall.

Can we have the full model number so we can check and see if Bluetooth hardware is installed? If the laptop came with a Bluetooth module then HP would have installed a Bluetooth driver from the factory. Adding a driver won't add Bluetooth function if there is no Bluetooth hardware to drive with the driver, if that makes sense.

Not all machine has Bluetooth builtin. What is your Laptop 15-bs0xx EXACTLY ?  Please use the following instructions to find out the model/product of your machine:

    https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824

Please do NOT post its Serial number (s/n).

Other way to check your machine has BT or not using Device Manager to check wifi card;

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11AC 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo Adapter (non-vPro) 901229-855
Realtek RTL8723DE 802.11 bgn 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo Adapter 927230-855
Realtek RTL 8188EE 802.11 bgn 1x1 WiFi Adapter 927235-855
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo Adapter 863934-855

Machines of the series with the wifi card in yellow above don't have Bluetooth.

Pavilion 15-au030wm Swollen Battery, perfect working condition.

Hi! I have had the model on Subject for the last 1.5yrs. Last week i noticed the upper left area of the keyboard was a bit swollen.

After chicking, noticed that it was indeed pretty swollen so decided to open the back of it and got to the battery.

Once open, saw that the battery is HUGELY Swollen, so first things first, took it off.

Before opening, made a battery test and it showed 100% status, and it was easily reaching around 5 to 6 working hours.

It is weird that a battery not to old has this issue.

Of course my device is out of warranty, and now need to know where to get the battery replacement, or even better, to know if HP can help me with this case.

I Bought the laptop at Walmart in Miami Lakes area, now i{m living in Argentina, but have family still in Miami.

Looking forward to get a quick solution!

Cheers.

Max.

My HP laptop won't turn on. It just cut off by itself. I even replaced the battery and no luck.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

  • Are you able to boot into windows desktop?
  • Have you made any hardware/software changes?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

  1. Press Enter to clear the message and allow the system to boot to the Windows Desktop.
(If system boots to windows desktop then perform following method)

  2. Shut down the computer, and then inspect and clean the exterior vents to remove dust buildup by blowing air through the vent openings. Dust can accumulate inside the vent openings and around internal cooling components, preventing the removal of heat.

For more information on reducing heat inside your computer, see Reducing Heat Inside the PC.

  3. After you remove the dust, turn on the computer. If the error message persists, continue with these steps.

  4. Perform a hard reset. Performing a hard reset can reset recorded thermal values in memory and enable you to use the computer again, even if only for a short time to access and save any important files before service.

For more information on performing a hard reset, see Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues.

  5. In some cases, updating the BIOS might help prevent this error from occurring.

For more information on how to update the BIOS, see Updating the BIOS.

  6. Have the computer serviced to clean internal components and replace the system fan if necessary?

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Re: Hinge issue

need hard drive cover, cable, and hard drive foil

Hello, could someone tell me where I can purchase the folling items as the HP parts store does not seem to carry them. I want to add a HD or SSD to the HP Pavilion x360 15-dq0051nr (it already has a 256GB  M.2 solid-state drive). The HP Maintenance and Service Guide, page 21, says I need a Hard Drive Cover part number L51350-001, and a Hard Drive Cable part number L51343-001. The manual also talks about a hard drive foil on page 37 although no part number is given. Page 39 talks about a Solid-state drive module foil cover but I think that is different than the hard drive foil.  I'd like to obtain the three missing items. Thanks.
