Can you let me know if I'm able to upgrade the RAM and SSD on the HP Spectre x360 13-ae20ca?
I`ve installed 2 ram(x4gb) into laptop, but system says that only 6.96gb can be used. How to fix this?
Hi:
What you are seeing is usually normal.
Most of the 1 GB of 'missing' memory went to support the graphics adapter.
Update the BIOS to fix this issue.
Refer this HP document for the steps to update the BIOS:- Click here
To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
Cheers.

Exactly where in Control Panel do I find the battery driver? I can't find anything that says "battery driver."

Hello I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade my current motherboard which is a Y23a DAY23AMB6CO and has a CPU: AMD A8 and a CPU: Radeon R5 Graphics to a better one. Thanks.
Hello,
I have the HP 3005pr USB 3.0 Port replicator. I know that it cannot charge my laptop (ZBook G5), however, I'm curious to know if it can at least charge my phone! According to the specs, there are 2 charging ports on the replicator. However, the specs do not indicate what power level is provided by these ports! I've checked that if I connect phones to these ports, they seem to start charging but it seems very slow. Hence, I wondering if the port provides 100mA, 1A or 2A? Does anyone know?

Just so you know - the inside of my laptop was nothing like the service manual you sent. Not your fsault - everything about this laptop is screwey. I cant even find parts on the HP website to replace the feet that tore when opening the bottom. Not available for outside purchase. I bought this laptop because I was in love with the last Pavillion I had for 6 years - but this is the lousieest piece of trash I have ever owned. My last was 1.1 GHz this is 3.10 - the last was twice as fast, didn't have to buffer for tonline streaming from Netflix, and Hulu. I get really depressed when I think I'm stuck with this clunker for a few years.
Sorry - didn't mean to unload on you - thanks for the help!!!
(RAM installed - no problems)
Hi I own a hp pavilion au639tx notebook(2017 model).
I have query related to SSD upgrade.
Q1.Can I use V NAND and 3D NAND both type of SSDs?
Q2.Is the NVMe SSDs are also supported?
Q3.Is Samsung 970evo NVMe 256 GB SSD (MZ-V7E250E) can be used in dual configuration along with 1TB built in HDD.
Q4.Is Gigabyte M2 PCIe 256GB SSD GSM2NE8256GNTD
NVMe can be used in dual configuration along with 1TB HDD?
Q5.Is Samsung 860evo V NAND 256 GB SSD(MZ-N6E250BW) can be used along with inbuilt 1 TB HDD?
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP..
The specs does not mention power output of those ports
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05357751#AbT1
but they should be standard USB 3.0 charging ports with 1.5A
Hope this helps.
Regards.
Firstly, it supports M.2 SATA SSD's therefore NVMe is out of question. You can use Samsung 3D NAND series or the following compatible guaranteed products from Crucial
250GB: https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/pavilion-15-au639tx/CT11667307
500GB: https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/pavilion-15-au639tx/CT11667343
1TB : https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/pavilion-15-au639tx/CT11667324
And yes, you can use dual storage (M.2 SSD + existing HĐ) on your machine.
Regards.
how to i get to my hard drive to change it out
Please use the following manual, page 42
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06148960.pdf
Regards.
Please use pages 73-75 of the last manual on the following link (only for 15" machines)
https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-15-p200-notebook-pc-series/7486459/manuals
Note: You have pay for motherboard, CPU, discrete GPU and Windows because they are all on 1 piece of hardware called System board.
Regards
See p. 27 of the Manual here:
There is an A10-5745M and A10-7300 version of the motherboard that would be a drop-in replacement. You could install one of the Intel boards but would also likely need additional parts like heatsink and possible wireless card.
HP will no longer have these boards in stock.
Firstly, I think your machine is an HP Spectre x360 13-ae020ca, not HP Spectre x360 13-ae20ca. Its specs
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05811152
It has 8 GB LPDDR3-1600 SDRAM (onboard) RAM that means upgrade RAM is out of question.
For storage, it has 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD and no room to add 2.5" HDD/SSD therefore you have to REPLACE existing M.2 SSD with a larger (capacity) using the following parts
2-TB, M.2 2280/DS, SATA-3, PCIe, NVMe, solid-state drive with TLC part # L04986-001
1-TB, M.2 2280/DS, SATA-3, PCIe, NVMe, solid-state drive with TLC part # 941878-001
512-GB, M.2 2280/DS, SATA-3, PCIe, NVMe, solid-state drive with TLC part # 941881-001
360-GB, M.2 2280/DS, SATA-3, PCIe, NVMe, solid-state drive with TLC part # 941880-001
I can also use Samsung 970 EVO M.2 SSD's, they are a bit cheaper.
Regards.

the shutdown and power again issue with brightness controls went away after turning off Fast Boot in Windows 10 power settings. The sleep issue remains, however, I managed to make brightness change working again after disabling and enabling display adapter in Device Manager, though for some reason I was not able to press start button afterward so don't recommend this.
