Battery warranty is the same as the other hardware and this is industry standard since the battery is consumeable. Have you tried running a complete diagnostic on the battery from within the HP Support Assistant or the UEFI pre-boot diagnostics? 19 months is a bit of a short life for a battery but it depends on how it was used.

Re: How to replace HD with SSD in Pavilion 14-al003ne
Here is the service video on your model showing SSD replacement:
https://h20574.www2.hp.com/results.htm?SID=10862154&MEID=65618DC0-D54F-403A-B3DA-F4E22780C9BF
And the Service manual:
The SSD support is limited to SATA type such as the Samsung Evo 860. There is a dedicated M.2 slot so you can have an M.2 plus a hard drive. The video shows it but the M.2 slot is on the other side fo the battery from the hard drive.

Is a combination of Hard drive and M.2 ssd better than a stand alone SSD like samsung 860 evo both in price and performance?

Motherboard mpn

Re: M.2 SSD on HP 15-bs625tx
Hi,
Your PC only supports M2 SATA3 SSDs as we can see on page 3 of the service manual. You can choose your desired capacity and brand such as the M2 Samsung 860 Evo or similar.

The speaker is hissing whenever I play sounds, and even after I stop them sometimes
Hello, I have the Envy 15. Since October last year, I have been suffering from an annoying buzzing. I started by ruling out software issues, ending up formatting the laptop and reinstalling everything (the sound was awfully high during the format). Nothing changed. So I was stupidly sure it was a heat issue. I bought a thermal paste to spoil my dear CPU. Nothing changed. It was clear then; it is a fan issue, so I bought a new fan and I replaced it myself. Nothing changed. I investigated more and I found out how stupid I was, (it was my first time trying to rely on myself; some sympathy is expected), the problem was with the speakers!
I finally paid attention to the fact that the hissing does happen only when I play videos or soundtracks, particularly if the laptop is plugged in. However, during the last month, the thing has been escalating and I may have the hissing the whole day unless I unplug the laptop and operate on the battery.
Why I am sure it is the speaker? (I think no one should trust me after reading above) I opened the laptop and I put my two fingers on the cones, the hissing stopped. I did it many many many times, I was enjoying it.
What do I need, I need to know if you think it is really a speaker issue. (can I replace the speaker myself?). Obviously, I am past the guarantee, and I don't want to pay anyone to do it, I am a poor student.
Ok, I think I am partly posting this to show off; I made a lot of efforts it was an achievement for me.
Thanks
Re: How to replace HD with SSD in Pavilion 14-al003ne
Adding an M.2 allows you to keep using the hard drive for storage hence you can get by with a smaller and cheaper SSD. But a SATA M.2 and a 2.5 inch SATA SSD perform about the same. So theoretically you save money adding say a 256 M.2 as opposed to installing say a 1 TB 2.5 inch SATA SSD. Performance is about the same.
Re: Ram slots
At the moment I have 8 gig of ram as delivered. I have received conflicting information, but yours seems least valid.
I have not opened up the unit, but Best Buy said 16 gig was max and only one slot - HP says 16 gig max and two slots with 8 gig in one slot - Iknow if yuo put (2) 16 gig chips in each slot and the unit will not support 32 gig, it will not recognize the second chip and will simply run on 16 gig.
I'm getting ready to expand the memory and need to know if the MB has 1 or 2 slots - 1 means I need 16 gig x 1 - 2 means I can use 8 gig x 2 or 16 gig x 1 - I don't need 32 gig.
Thanks, but have you cracked the case and made the upgrade?
Re: Ram slots
My machine currently has 8 gig of ram - I believe 8 x 1 - I want to upgrade to 16 gig - I am trying to predetermine if I need 8 x2 oe 16 x 1
Re: Problem with hardware
Hi:
The code you received, Hard Disk 1 Full Test Failure, means that you will have to replace the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
The hard drive R & R procedure can be found in chapter 6.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05227925
You can replace the 1 TB hard drive with any brand 2.0" x 7.0mm thick notebook hard drive.
If you don't need the 1 TB of storage space, you may want to opt for a better performing, normally more reliable solid state drive (SSD).
I use this one in two of my HP desktop PC's and 2 of my HP notebook PC's. It works great.
After you replace the hard drive, you can reinstall W10 for free as follows...
You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer with the Microsoft Media Creation Tool, using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, if your PC is not working.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...
- Select Download tool now, and select Run.
- If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
- On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. You want 64 bit.
- Select which media you want to use:
- USB flash drive. Plug in a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.
After W10 installs, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page...
