HP Omen 17 with swollen battery

$

For the past few weeks I noticed from time to time my trackpad wasn't quite responding correctly. So yesterday I figured enough was enough and decided to see what was up. I opened up my laptop to make sure the SSD I installed previous was still secure, as it was right next to the trackpad I figured maybe it was a little out of place and pressing on the case, and noticed the battery was bulging!

I only purchased the laptop in May 2017, I really don't think a battery should be in this bad shape in under two years. I was about to look for a relacement battery, but since this is so soon would a replacement maybe still be covered by a warranty?

How to align the speed of the cooling fan. A few days ago I bought a monoblock, the fan does not work monotonously, but cyclically, like in a parabolle, it really gets on my nerves when you work in silence. How can the fan be equalized so that it works at constant speed with minimal load on the device?

Hi

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Sorry for the late reply. This is a known issue at the moment with no 100% official solution or workaround. An update has been pushed via Windows Update and it fails to install.

The update is not that critical and you may want to temporary hide it until the problem is resolved on the "back end" (kind of).

* Try downloading this Microsoft uitlity to hide the update >> https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026726/windows-hide-windows-updates-or-driver-updates

* More info >> https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3073930/how-to-temporarily-prevent-a-driver-update-from-rei...

Let me know if issues or questions.

Hi! , Welcome back to HP support community.

I understand the SSD you replaced is not getting detected on the PC.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?

Are you using an HP genuine part on the PC?

Are you trying to boot from the SSD?

Excellent description and a great diagnosis done. It is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

If the PC is no longer under warranty you could try the fix yourself or at local trusted computer technician. If you provide the exact model or product number we can take a look at what the parts are you need and the cost involved. Here is link to HP support page showing how to find the model or product number:

Envy 15 as100 max supported RAM?

Hello everyone.

I want to upgrade my current memory (2x4GB) to more memory. I read online and tried to find how much is the maximum amount of memory that can be installed in my notebook, but couldn’t find something clear. Some said max is (2x8GB) and some said (2x16GB) and I don’t really know how to figure this out.

I don’t want to order an expensive memory and then find out that it wont work with my notebook.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Your PC will support 32GB of DDR4 2133Mhz RAM (2x16GB) even if 16GB is mentioned in service manual.

There are two slots. You can purchase from your preferred brand such as Crucial, Samsung....

On page 33 of service manual you can see the steps to upgrade RAM:

Hope it helps,

Warranty for Battery

purchased an HP Pavilion x360 14-ba073TX laptop from online hp store. My order number was order no-917003 dated 30 June 2017.

It is since  a month that the laptop's battery backup is reduced and sometimes it goes off suddenly. The one year warranty has expired but since the laptop is just one half years old, can I avail any other warranty for its battery.

HP should take responsibility for such a short life of the battery in the notebook which I purchased in 73000. The battery usually should run perfectly fine for at least three-four years in laptops of this cost.

My laptop turns of but after around 10 minutes it freezes. I tried the go hardware diagnostics troubleshooter, the fast check passed but the extensive test failed, the test shows the following info:

Hard drive long DST check:Failed

Hard drive 1 - primary HDD bay*

Test Name: HPAdvSysDiag_System
Failure ID:  9CX1A4-8MV9GM-MFGGQJ-619103
Product Number: Y6H04EA
Serial Number: 5CG71169KG

what does this mean, do I have to buy a new hard drive?
My warranty has run out, which hard drive do I buy?

Laptop no longer turning on

I have a HP Zbook G3 which no longer turns on. When trying to charge the ligt next to the port is on however the power button flickers and seems incredibly dim.  I have left the device on charge for extended periods of time and attempted to boot with the charger connected. I have tried to use other chargers however they are probably not compatible because of the 150w input for the Zbook.  I belive the issue is caused by a faulty charger or battery. I would like to be sure though because parts for the zbook are rather expensive.  Could the issue possibly be caused by a faulty button?

Re: Laptop no longer turning on

The Zbook 15 G3 has a unique adapter with a USB-C and barrel connector both on the same device. If the power button is not lighting up right I would be initially suspicious of the power supply. I know they are expensive but I think a replacement power supply would be the first thing to try. I personally have a Zbook 15 G3 and a dock. The dock provides a second power button. If you completely run out of ideas if you sent it to me I can try the extra AC adapter I have and to connect it to the dock and see if it turns on with the dock button. However, I suspect the problem is more likely to be the motherboard. The power supply or power button are not impossible to be the problem, just less likely.
