My laptop would turn on with the magnet, but now it doesn't turn on, but it's charging. I would like to know if I disconnect the hall sensor, would I be able to turn on the laptop without the laptop?
If the hall sensor is disconnected will the screen and keyboard of the laptop turn back on?

Hinge broken on HP Envy
Hi all. I think others have had this problem. This morning I went to open my HP Envy laptop and the right hand side hinge seems to have become detached. The screen is also coming away from the the backing. It's not fours old yet and hardly used. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes everything will be back to normal after disconnect that hall sensor laptop keyboard will work again so you can turn the laptop on again afterwards

If you search smoking charger port, the majority appear to be the Spectre....and there's more than a few posts...
I didn't realise that I needed to extend my warranty due the fact that a HP product could have burned my house down.
That's partly what I'm annoyed about.
A reputable company shouldn't have a product (which was looked after) that could burn the house down after a couple of years
If that was a risk then I would have liked to have known and I wouldn't have bought it.
If it shouldn't have been a risk then it's some form of catastrophic failure with the hardware, regardless of time period.

Try to move the magnet slightly sideways while pressing power button, that it will turn on again.
But of course you cant be doing that all the time 😛 I am kindof "afraid" of turning off the machine, LOL...
But I will build a new PC for my son and then send this in to service, luckilly I have some spare PC parts laying around so I just need a graphics card.

Ticking sound
Hello,
I have an HP omen 15 dc00xx, and whenever I open an app or play games, there is a sudden lag with my laptop and a ticking sound. Even when playing low graphics req games I lag with a ticking sound.
What would be a great resolution for this?

I suggest that you turn legacy support back on (secure boot will be automatically turned off) and reboot and see if the system boots into Windows again.
if it does, click the link below to see if your hard drive is on MBR or GPT partition scheme. If it uses MBR style and legacy support is turned off in BIOS, Windows won't be loaded. let us know what you find.

That must be a limitation of the BIOS, because the Intel processor specs indicate your notebook's processor can run the memory at 3200 MHz.

HP would not install 2666 MHz memory in your notebook if it could run 3200 MHz memory at the full speed.

hp envy 17t-BY400 keyboard
Somehow a couple of my keys got reprogramed, e.g., instead of "right" I get "right+end" I have tried a software program, but it doesn't change the physical keyboard - only the virtual one.
I need a replacement keyboard for a hp envy 17t-BY400 silver backlit laptop, or does anyone know of a compatible one?
