Re: Can't change backlight in Bloc Num section - OMEN 15 Laptop

Hi, thanks for your help.

I've seen that from my dashboard there's a a BIOS update version F.21 Rev A, and the one that I have in my machine is version F.19, so probably I need to upgrade.

The question is: why the HP Support Assistant does't pop-up the BIOS Firmware update when I search for updates? I've seen that version F.21 has been released at the end of December 2020, so it's a month now but the Support Assistand still didn't propose me that update. Is it safe to do it manually?

Thanks again for your kind help,

Lorenzo

Replacement battery

Hi, my laptop has been great, but as sometimes happens the battery failed, so I went to the HPshop and purchased a new battery which was great but only lasted 10 months and failed, so I went back and purchased a new battery 18 days ago. The hp assistant is reporting battery failure and advising change of battery. I was not happy at my battery lasting 10 months but accepted it; however, 18 days is not good enough, do HP batteries have a problem? Can anyone enlighten me on this problem? Penfit

All HP Spectre x 360 Motherboard Burning out

It's very bad on the part of HP ...2 years back I purchased the Hp spectre x360 15-bk112dx  laptop considering its a premium laptop. But I was totally wrong. Just after using it just for 2 years it's motherboard burnt out. I also read on Hp community that maximum spectre holders having same issue of motherboard burning out . And cost of replacing the motherboard is radiculously very high,  nearly half of the cost of  laptop. Why don't Hp recall all the Hp spectre series to settle the issue.

help with older HP laptop

So HP...thanks alot, i have a laptop with literally 4 different model #'s all valid when searching for drivers and bios updates,  here goes... ok so on the lcd bezel it says DV2000 on the Bottom it says Model DV2500 and then next to that on the same label it says DV2840SE and then when the bios boots it says DV2700 it has a AMD Turion x2 CPU the problem i am having with it, is this...it runs flawlessly, charges flawlessly,  the 1 problem is when you shut down, if you try to restart immediately, or without waiting 5 minutes,  you press power button, it lights up fan spins then it shuts down after like 2 seconds, if you press again immediately it runs for even shorter time,  THEN if you LET IT SIT LIKE 5 MINUTES and power on,, it's fine...will run for hours, no freezing no nothing, just flawless operation.  I am suspecting some bios corruption or wrong version due to the different model #'s i currently have F28 i reflashed with F24 same problem so i went back to F28 because it's the latest,  but hose other models have different bios revisions and i am afraid to try others, the one i used was for the dv2840se.  unfortunately since this is older HP conveniently removed all info about it from their site,  HELP

Dear Huffer,

Many thanks for your response.

Just wanted to double check as my laptop is HP Envy Notebook 15 ae104nx. Will the suggested battery would work? Once I order it would be difficult to replace me.

Also, I checked with Aramex, none of them ship batteries directly to Doha.

Appreciate if you have any suggestions how others order outside USA.

Thanks

Sayeed

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

HP 15 Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide

The supported drive types can be found in Chapter 1.

Your notebook has a M.2 slot that supports both SATA and NVMe SSD's.

NVMe SSD's are considerably faster than SATA SSD's, but they do run hotter due to the fast drive speed.

Here is the Service Manual:

Manual

mSATA mSSD is not mentioned. There is a WWAN slot that will take a mSATA form factor device (see p. 69 of the Manual).

It is reported that the system will mount an mSSD placed in this slot for storage, but it cannot be bootable. There may need to be an adjustment in the BIOS to switch from WWAN to mSSD on the slot.

1. During Boot, go into the BIOS F10 option;
2. Select system configuration;
3. Select Built-in device options;
4. scroll to MSATA;
5. Check MSATA.

There is no capacity limit.

Hi,

Here is the failure report generated by the code you posted, minus your notebook's serial number.

Failure Information
Failure ID Tag Checksum HP Serial Number Test Date Failure Code Device Includes Error Message
QE5N00-882AGW-MFPX6J-C7UF13OKXXXXXXXXXX1/30/2161FPowerAC Adaptor, Battery, Cache Battery Pack, Charger, Power Cord, Power SupplyBattery 1 Corrupt Capacity

The reports generated by these failure codes provide very little useful information and devote most of their energy to providing your notebook's serial number.

I would suggest that you will need to replace the battery in order to resolve the problem.

You can use the battery part number listed in chapter 3 of the manual, or the one from the parts list for your notebook.

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

HP 15 Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide

The memory upgrade info and supported drive types can be found in Chapter 1.

Your notebook has a M.2 slot that supports both SATA and NVMe SSD's.

NVMe SSD's are considerably faster than SATA SSD's, but they do run hotter due to the fast drive speed.

HP indicates the max memory is 2 x 8 GB but most notebooks with Intel 8th gen core processors can take 2 x 16 GB of memory, as indicated by the Crucial memory report below.
