Hi,

I recently purchased HP Pavillion 15 with Full-size, backlit, cloud blue keyboard with numeric keypad. But the product I received  doesn't have backlit option/icon neither in the keyboard nor control panel. Is there any other way to switch on the backlight? or is it a wrong product got delivered?

Hi@wini22, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand that you have an HP 15s-Eq0355ng  and the battery charges 93% and then stops. You've done a remarkable job performing the steps.

Did any software changes or updates happen on your laptop after which the battery stopped charging at 93%?

While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

NOTE: You may skip any steps that have been performed by you already.

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop.
  • Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
  • Power ON the laptop.

Now let us uninstall the battery drivers and reinstall them. The following steps will help:

  • Open the device manager.
  • Expand "Batteries". Right-click on the ACPI battery drivers and select uninstall. If there are multiple entries of the ACPI battery drivers then uninstall them all.
  • Close the device manager. Restart the laptop.
  • The Windows operating system will reinstall the battery drivers while restarting.

It is a good idea to download and run a BIOS update for your laptop via this link. The charger must be connected until the BIOS update is complete to avoid any power interruptions due to the battery draining out.

Post a successful BIOS update,  you may check if the battery charges fully. If not then please perform the steps as described in detail in this HP document. These steps help in testing and calibrating the battery.

NOTE: Please skip the steps mentioned in "Test and calibrate the battery using HP Support Assistant".

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

The default browser(chrome) keeps opening on it's own mutiple times. Then the keyboard starts to misbehave by writting weird characters. I initially thought that it was the keyboard causing that but it's not. I had to replace with a new one but still the same, I disconnected it from the laptop but still laptop behaves the same. The default internet button flashes mutiple times as well of which it never used to do that. It would flash when pressed, but now it flashes on it's own. I also thought it was maybe a virus or any other malicious threat of any nature, and it prompted me to format my harddrive and to install new OS but still it behaves the same. Please kindly help 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

My left clicker button doesn't work on my Touchpad so I need to re-enable to allow tapping

Two years ago when I first got my HP laptop, I used Settings
to disable the use of Tapping on the Touchpad that would have
simulated a Left- (or Right-) Click.

My Left-Click button on my Touchpad has died and my Microsoft
USB mouse is also failing, so I need to re-enable Tapping so
I can do Left-Clicks. Going to Start->Settings->Touchpad
I tried to locate the Tapping settings and found only the
Touchpad sensitivity setting, but not the one to enable Tapping.

Where did it disappear to ? ... and how do I enable Tapping ?

Hello

Having changed my hard drive to SDD to gain speed, I no longer have the MediaSmart software.

Could you help me find it, thanks.

I cannot reinstall it by copying it from my old PC.

I saw several things on the internet, but it doesn't work.

It would be a priori SP 45691.

I installed WIN10, the PC is working fine.

Before changing the player, MediaSmart was installed and working correctly under WIN10.

Thank you for your help.

Hi@VkusniyZombi, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand the issue with the cooling fan on the HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 16-a0032ur

SpeedFan Software combination is not tested by HP. So, the functionality is not guaranteed.

request you to follow the below troubleshooting steps:-

I have a few recommendations:

As I understand you want to control fan speed,
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
Did you know that the fan is system managed and cannot be changed manually?
Does the computer shut down due to overheating?
Have you recently made any changes to the computer before the issue started?
Have you tried to update the drivers and the Bios?

If you didn't, I'm afraid that's how the HP device is designed, making changes to fan speed may cause overclocking or over-throttling causing hardware malfunctions within the device and hence is not recommended or supported by HP.

If your device is overheating, please remember the below information:
NOTE: Generally, when temperatures inside the case rise above 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit), the risk of damaging important internal components increases greatly.

Also, to avoid CPU damage, we do not recommend throttling or overclocking the CPU, I recommend you refrain from using high-performance games on this laptop as it's not built for the same.

I would suggest you refer to the support documents as this will help you in resolving the issue.

Let's start off by updating the Bios, Chipset, and graphics card drivers on your PC from our HP support website, using this link.
Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.
Refer to this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

HP Notebook PCs - Fan is Noisy and Spins Constantly, PC is Warmer than Normal

Keeping notebook air vents clear and clean
Increasing the efficiency of the notebook to reduce heat
Using Windows Task Manager to identify corrupt processes
Selecting power save settings to shut off your computer when it is not in use

HP Notebook PCs - Reducing Heat Inside the Laptop to Prevent Overheating

The best way to do that is by using the HP Guided Troubleshooter:
Click here to access it (simply select your description of the issue from the bottom of the screen to gain access to the next set of steps that should resolve your concern).

If you have followed the instructions and still having issues, I would recommend you go ahead and run an extensive system test from F2(Please capture the failure ID for further assistance).

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello
you could not create an image of the old damaged disk ..
The computer is no longer supported at hp, so nothing is available!
Then sometimes what worked in upgrade I guess it did ..
cannot be reinstalled if windows 10 has been reinstalled completely
"I saw several things on the internet, but it doesn't work.
at the risk of repeating ourselves for nothing, a little summary would be practical!

Try in case what is available with this model

(just for the software in question)

For the installation right click run as administrator this may be important

otherwise, you will have to find an alternative software, see a windows 10 app

memory card slots on HP ProBook 6440b

I would like to increase the memory on this laptop from 4 GB to 8 GB.  After looking at the specs i bought what i thought should work - 2 4 GB memory sticks.  when I remove the cover for the memory sticks I can see only one card.  The installed card is 2 GB and the OS indicates 4 GB.  Is there 2 GB somewhere onboard this laptop. The specs has the following paragraph "Standard: DDR3 PC3-10600 SDRAM (1333 MHz)1 Two SODIMM slots supporting dual-channel memory 1024MB, 2048MB, 3072MB, or 4096MB

Maximum : Upgradeable to 8192MB with 4096MB SODIMMs in slots 1 and 2
Dual-channel: Maximized dual-channel performance requires SODIMMs of the same size and speed in both memory slots" indicating that i should see two cards slots.  I'm very confused.

Here is how you can get in touch with support.

1)Click on this link –www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

Need help locating Pavillion part L23912-001

My Pavilion 15-cs2037 laptop screen broke and I have a new screen to replace it with. However apparently I need an Adhesive Tape Kit part# L23912-001 in order to secure the new screen into position. I have called around to various vendors to locate this part but they are all out of stock, and one told me that HP is no longer sending this to venders. The only place I could find that seems to have it is located in Australia.

Does anyone know of a source for this part, or is this a substitute part# that I should look for?

I have THREE hp Spectre x 360 Convertibles, Model 15-ch011dx.  Two have batteries so bloated that there are gaps in the case.  One is just starting to show signs of battery bloat.  These laptops are out of warranty.  I cannot find replacement batteries on the hp site and I do not want to deal with this again so I want to make sure I get replacement batteries that are not associated with this problem. Can someone advise?  Thank you!
