Upgrading my PCIe NVMe M2 SSD on my laptop? where to start

Hello there;

So here I am enjoying my new specter laptop, which I have ordered a few months ago, the thing is it has a 256GB PCIe NVMe M2 SSD, and am planning to upgrade it to a 1GB drive ( Product #8WP89AV ) my question(s) are:

1- will the newer 4th gen M2 NVMEs work with it, what would you recommend?

2- am torn between WD SN750 , WD SN850 and the Samsung 980 pro, are there better options?

3- If I go through with the upgrade, will I be able to  use my current installed windows that came with  laptop & not loose my included MS 360 subscriptions along with everything else in the new SSD? how to do it ?

I had more success going this route. The cable has been ordered and is scheduled for delivery on the 8th. I'll let you know how it works when I get it installed.

Hi:

 

If your notebook has the Ralink RT3290 wifi adapter, that is a common issue with that model wifi/bluetooth adapter and W10.

 

I'm surprised the wifi didn't disappear too.

 

There is no fix other than to purchase an external USB Bluetooth adapter, or upgrade the Ralink wifi card to this model, if your notebook has two wifi antenna cables connected to the Ralink wifi adapter in there now.

 

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0    HP Part # 710661-001

 

The card has a maximum throughput of 867 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz wifi band with an AC router.

 

You should be able to find this model wifi card on eBay.

 

Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

Upgradation of RAM

QUESTION ONE:-

I am using Hewlett-Packard HP EliteBook 8470p 

 

                                                            This Image shows the information about the motherboard that I have

I want to use my system for android development, for that, I have to use an emulator for android development.

But when I open the emulator my system gets really slow. 

What if I upgrade my laptop using 8GB of RAM can it resolve my issue or do I have to replace my 4GB RAM with 12 or16GB instead of 8GB. I am too confused.

Below is the Hard Drive that I am using currently:-

  • Spindle Speed
    7200 rpm
  • Type
    HDD
  • Capacity
    320 GB

SECOND QUESTION:-I

f I upgrade my RAM is it compatible with my hard drive or not.

Hi:

 

The product specs for your notebook indicate the memory is onboard (soldered to the motherboard), and cannot be upgraded.

 

HP ENVY X360 - 13-ar0126au Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

 

The service manual indicates the same.  There is also no procedure listed to remove or replace the memory.

 

Maintenance and Service Guide HP ENVY x360 13 Convertible PCIMPORTANT! This document is intended for HP authorized service providers only.

 

In case you want to know why 2 GB of memory is being used up, your notebook was designed that way on purpose.

 

HP released this document a while back, which explains the memory shortage...

This seems to only apply to some models with the AMD Ryzen processors.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the charging port is damaged on the computer and you want to know whether you can charge your laptop using the USB C port on the computer.

You will not be able to charge your laptop using the USB C port. However, I recommend you contact support and they will assist you with the available service options for your computer to get the charging port fixed.

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Is that a genuine HP battery? It's not a product that was fit to be sold at retail. Only 74% of original designed charge holding capacity. I would return it to the seller.

You would have to add in a CMOS battery but could reuse the one on your existing board or they are used in hearing aids so sold at drug stores or from amazon for a couple pounds.

HP Probook 6475b problem after motherboard replacement

Hello there.

 

I have proceed with the replacement of the motherboard of the laptop but now i keep receiveing the below message on startup :

Also, after 5-8 minutes the laptop blocks and I have to hard reset with the power button. If I switch on the laptop back again, I get a black screen so then I have to remove the batery and the power cable for 10 minutes. After that the laptop screen opens normally but i have the same issues again. What is the problem here?? Any help would be welcomed.

hi..thankyou for the help , i didnt expect a used board to cost so much to be honest the laptops wouldnt be worth that even with a working board  [ altho i do realise most stuff like cpu and ram are on these boards ] but i really appreciate your help and i reckon ill just put it to one side and keep a look out on ali and ebay for hopefully a cheaper board in the coming months ...just hope i can get my stuff off the ssd using a m.2 to usb or if not i guess ill have to maybe end up forking out for that board ...like i said really appreciate your help
