The error code reported, Memory Module 1 Failure, indicates that you need to replace the memory module in slot one of your notebook.
The hard drive should be fine and if you replace the memory module, the notebook should work fine again.

WEll thanks for the reply but its not helpful. The serial port is from the USB. The arduino connects by a usb a to b cable like a printer. There is a USB interface in the Arduino. Millions of them out there so the levels and all should be fine.
This is a WINDOWS 10 HP laptop problem.
Its not an arduino board problem. I could take the arduino and send it to the north pole, my HP laptop would still have a problem on this USB channel. All other ports are used. I had usb hubs and a large plastic box of my most prized computer must-have gadgets, fittings, discs collected over 30 years. The moving company Presto Logistics STOLE IT! Along with 5 other boxes of brand new clothes and the best items in my shipment. It included a $100 precision mouse, and stuff I wouldnt remember unless looking in that box. Remember Presto Logistics, criminals who steal your items and there is no recourse! I had at least 2 usb to serial adapters but this needs a USB a to b cable.
See how the error is in device manager?Ive uninstalled and reinstalled, rebooted 3 times, changed the port from 3 to 20 or whatever, something is stuck. Id like to clear out the driver but uninstalling/reinstalling and rebooting and it still has this same error.
I want an HP diagnostic that runs and can reset the USB hub/port whatever to default. Do you know of such a tool? I thought there were in the old days

What wifi card do I need to replace mine with, with instructions? Part #, etc.

I have a HP14-cf0012dx and wanted to switch the wifi card from RTL8723DE 802.11 b/g/n to 802.11 ac.
I was searching other threads, and many were recommended RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 wifi + bluetooth combo HP part# L17365-005. I checked on ebay but I could not find the wifi card that matches my model.
Can anyone help me what wifi card they got to replace the RTL8723DE to 802.11 ac?

Core speed dropping significantly very frequently.
While I was playing games I noticed that my FPS was constantly dropping. Decided to check it out on CPU-Z and looks like my core speeds drop from around 3-4ghz to 399 mhz for no reason at all. It also happens from time to time during normal/non-graphic intensive tasks such as something as simple as opening up my start menu. My whole computer will slow down momentarily, almost freezing, and then go back to normal again.

My temperatures are also very reasonable, only going to a maximum of 60 degrees celsius when in a game, and staying at around 40-45 when idle. I've cleaned the fan, heatsink, replaced the thermal paste. I've also adjusted the PC settings for best performance (no desktop animations, etc.) Laptop is plugged in. There may be some Arduino issue, not sure but the problem is SOLVED! I connected the usb to the printer, went into device manager, found the usb channel with errors and uninstalled it, also ran windows update and troubleshooter and picked PRINTER PROBLEMS. It went in and setup the printer.
Then I moved the usb to the Arduino and the pc made the 'new hardware found' sound, shows COM3 normal no problems

You should have no problem reinstalling W10.
Make a bootable USB flash drive installer using the media creation tool at the link below.

When you get to the part of the W10 installation process where you are asked to enter a product key, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
Then you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.

Microsoft Store Not Working!!
I am trying to find updates the the Microsoft Store but it’s not working. I click on “downloads and updates” then I click on “get updates” and I keep getting an error message. The message says “Something went wrong, 0x80860010”. I tried a troubleshoot and it said a problem was found but not fixed. The problem is hanging or crashing apps. Please help me!!

Also run a battery test to confirm the Hardware Functionality
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the Notebook.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Power > Battery

My Spectre won't turn on, no lights when I plug it in (and I've tried 2 different chargers). Doing a hard reset by holding the power button does nothing -- it's completely unresponsive. I would appreciate putting me in contact with the appropriate parties to help resolve this.

Spectre X360 Overheated and won’t Power on
Hello,
I have an HP Spectre X360 15-bl112dx purchased at the end of 2017. I have really enjoyed this laptop and I was planning to buy one for my wife this weekend.
Earlier this week I was using my laptop (web browsing) and the battery was running low. I plugged it in and the laptop quickly got hot. Hot enough that it nearly burned my hands and I was concerned about fire hazard. I quickly powered the computer down and unplugged it. I let it cool and a few days later I went to turn it on and nothing would happen. I plugged it in and still nothing. I tried unplugging it, holding the power button for 15-20 seconds and plugging it back in and still nothing happened. No lights illuminate at all.
I really have two problems here. First is that this premium computer is having this kind of problem when it is less than two years old. Second is that according to others in this community the Spectre has had a history of the motherboard overheating and burning. This sounds like what happened to my computer. I’m concerned about the safety of this product and this has completely deflated my high opinion of HP.
Can anyone offer any advice on what to do with my now bricked computer?
Also, can anyone advise if the current models are having any better track record? I might be willing to try again for a computer for my wife if the problems have been resolved. However, I will have a hard time justifying paying for a new one or even paying for repair on mine if the problems have not been addressed.
