I have no idea what is going on. 2 days ago I began to have trouble with my trackpad. The cursor would skip, jump, not move. etc. I did a system restore and the problem seemed to resolve until about 2 hours ago. A friend of mine tried to fix it, but now it says that I can not connect to the synaptics pointing device and that I have a P/S 2 compatible mouse plugged into a mouse port. If I uninstall the driver and restart my computer how exactly do I reinstall it without a mouse?

Re: USB Audio Interface Mystery
Hello,
AS I stated earlier - the maker of the problematic device (which has a solid reputation) has sent me new drivers that aren't widely available although the drivers seemed and still seem solid and I've never mentioned nor had an issue with latency. Although you said I didn't mention updating any of the drivers, I may have inferred it by saying I installed any and all Windows updates which included drivers.
I have worked with PC's for 20 years, building, supporting, programming, etc.. I have seen a plethora of problems that run the gamut of easy to very complex and even to unexplainable - which I usually don't accept.. lol. This laptop runs smooth and I've tuned it up as my main music machine but this issue runs pretty deep and on the surface I can't see a driver issue, no latency issues and no updates pending for anything. What has my curiousity and perhaps I've not been as detailed as I shoud have been but that this problem does NOT occur and may never have occurred if I only used headphones. It only happens when a cable - any cable - is plugged up from my audio device to another device like a mixer or amp.
That's why I explored grouding issues, electrical possibilities etc. This may be a complex combination of several factors. Maybe a USB issue, along with a driver and/or even a deep OS issue along with grounding?
Thanks for the link to Windows 8 Tuning Tips for Audio processing but honestly, I had already performed these modifications way before I found that article and read it even before you posted the link. But thanks for being thorough.
I'd actually be happy if I had to address some clicking or popping - but a complete failure when only cables are connected? What can I do in the cabling to prevent surges? I hate to purchase expensive equipment to troubleshoot this, find a surge issue only to have to purchase another laptop, audio interface or something. Throwing more money at it for only troubleshooting purposes doesn't seem pleasant to me.
I have blue screen logs, memory dump files, etc which have been handed over to Focusrite and still nothing. I'd like to install Win 10 on it to see if this reoccurs or drop back to Win 7. I don't know what to do,,, my first audio interface device to fulfill my dreams of playing live performances and I hit this.. Agh!!!
Frustrated but still willing to troubleshoot,
Thanks,
Chris
Re: HP Envy Touch-smart 17 Inch Loose Hinges
I know this post is from 29th July but I have been having the exact same problem on my 17inch hp envy too!
At first I thought maybe something happened but after looking online alot of people are having the same problem? Some have theirs repairs for no cost and others pay for theirs to be repaired?
Is there any solution to this problem :-( or just repair? If so where to repair it?
hp 15 GB do
i own a hp 15 g012 dx laptop
it has an issue where in once HDMI port is used to connect laptop to external monitor , I have noticed random reboots.
I think its graphics issue.
Also, if it is graphics issue, I also wanted to know how i can upgrade laptop to 1920x1080, if I can.
Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Re: HP Mini 110 asking for current password, won't boot
I am having the same problem
Fatal Error.....System Halted.
CNU9376GJT
I tried the password you suggested but it didn't work.
Re: HP Mini 110 asking for current password, won't boot
Todd try.
e9lofxghwa
3rd letter lowercase L
4th letter lowercase O.
Use that code to go into the BIOS.
Disable all passwords that are enabled.
IF asked for the CURRENT password use that code.
IF asked for NEW password just hit enter.
If asked to VERIFY password just hit enter.
Save and exit.

Re: hp envy m6-1222sr hard drive problems
Everything was much easier than I thought. At first reinstalled Windows and drivers, but it didn't help. The problem disappeared after disabling Windows user account and switching to a local account. After 4 days of torment is a feeling that the laptop runs 10 times faster. I hope this all ends.
Re: Can't log on to windows with Simple Pass
Kao228,
Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
I assume you are using HP SimplePass Series 8. This is the version that ships with the new notebooks.
If you like, you can take a look at the following Dragon Document:
Instructions to Update HP SimplePass
Important: You may want to Ignore the references to Series 6 HP SimplePass -- in general, at least, you probably want to stick with the latest Series 8 HP SimplePass. This is the supported version.
The problem you face may be nothing more than an issue of "Order of Events": SimplePass is fussy about the order in which you install the drivers, boot the system, install the program.
For example, you may just need to reinstall your Validity Driver, reboot, install the SimplePass, reboot -- and Voila! Working program. There might be a bit more to it -- read the details and decide how you want to proceed.
If all else fails, you can try the older, more robust Series 6 version that has been around for several years. This older version does run on many of the newer notebooks. Although it is not any longer supported in the true sense, it does work for many folks and it is pretty sturdy code.
Reminder: The document is not an official HP document; the file does contain the links to the latest versions of both the Series 6 and the Series 8 SimplePass programs and it does provide a lot of information that may prove helpful.

Battery Charging Issue with Elitebook 6930p
Hello HP forums, I had to come back here and ask you guys/girls a question about the Elitebook series and the battery not charging issue. I recently purchased this laptop to replace the other two garbage HP laptops that we used to have here. The DV9005 was a total waste of money, and the compaq CQ50 wasn't much better either. This elitebook however has been a more decent experience to use thankfully.
Now its not a brand new laptop, again just can't afford to pay hundreds to thousands of dollars for a computer. Anyone who does, well good for you.
On to the problem, when I first got the laptop it didn't have the charging adapter or a hard drive. I already had a spare empty drive to use and purchased a generic adapter. About a week later I ended up getting an official adapter branded by HP because I thought it was the problem.
While using the generic adapter the battery would sometimes charge, and other times not charge and would make it to about 97-98% and refuse to charge any further, using the generic china crap adapter. I tried all I could think of and followed the guides on the internet. Removing the battery, uninstalling the drivers for it in device manager, rebooting without the battery, then putting the battery back in. These tactics were all hit and miss and worked but only for a little while. I had pulled the harddrive from the compaq system and used it in this one prior to getting rid of the Compaq. It still had the original install Windows on it and after all that troubleshooting I figured "hey must be an issue with the old hardware drivers from the previous system the drive was in. So finally I got an official charger (the battery checked out fine in the HP Battery Check software by the way).
So with the new charger I formatted the hard drive, and installed Windows 7 x64 Ultimate again. Then let its installer and Windows Update find all the drivers and with that the problem seemed to be gone. I had to manually install some drivers, such as the ATI drivers and the fingerprint scanner (I don't use it though). It now charged to 100% but sometimes its didn't. By this I mean I have to let the battery discharge to below 90% (89% and below) before the system will charge the battery. Is this normal? Shouldn't the battery charge back up no matter what percentage the cells are at, or is this some kind of special feature that I'm simply unaware of? Another thing is that sometimes the battery will charge extremely fast, and other times drag on for hours. Also a high pitched humming sound can be heard when its charging, like you can hear the electricity doing something. That's the best way I can describe it.
I must note that I have updated the bios, and until recently had installed some (not all) of HP's bloatware, such as the Quick Launch buttons, battery check, the software center crap for the info button on the quick launch panel. I didn't like that stuff though, seems like way to many running processes for a single piece of hardware. I avoided all the other seemingly non essential driver updates from the HP site. The HP software created about 7 processes all related to the quick launch buttons and auto updating. I found that to be unacceptable and removed all of the HP software, the system operates just fine with out it. Only thing that's odd is the battery and its plugged in not charging status. It charged fine for days until I removed that software, even when it was only a few percent short of 100% charged. Now it's back to the way it was under the generic charger, so I suspect that the generic charger works fine and something else is the problem.
Is the HP software required for normal and proper battery charging? If that is the case it is a bit concerning, when I buy a product that product becomes my property not the sellers anymore, and the fact that your 3rd party software maybe required for normal operations is a slap in the face to consumers everywhere. While I do appreciate HP's attempts to automate and dumb down everything for users who don't know what their doing. You should consider that not everyone needs or wants that type of automated assistance and out right commercialization built right into the system from the factory. Perhaps in future models you will not install the HP software by default. The mouse pad for example, has one driver and one process for it. I can see what the process is for and it is alright to have it because it is required if I want to use the track pads built in scrolling feature, among other things. Linking the quick launch buttons to the batteries charging action (if that is indeed what is happening here) was/is a horrible idea.
Please correct me if I am wrong on any of this, I await you answer for the battery charging issue, and will provide additional information if necessary.

Re: HP DM3 - Mouse Freeze's up when the computer wakes up from sleep mode.
eWell, it happens on my laptop too. My new laptop has the most of problems, and I ca tell why it happens. Since the mousepad dosen't have a well trackball supporting the type of surface of your laptop's integrated mouse. I also had this problem certain times but it came back. You might try a computer mouse for now if you do serious work and overclocking. But if is easy to deal with it, then it's fine.
Hope it helps!

Re: Overheating/Game lag, on DV7-1270us
Hi,
Overheating is common man, I am a serious gamer, if you see. My computer can heat up to the limits while playing games. Don't worry, just help your laptop and give it some rest so it can catch its breath to function. And the lag, well, drivers could have been corrupted or the motherboard got cracks. DOnt panic! It is going to be fine.
Hope it helps!

Re: Keyboard arrows not working in Games
Hi
The game you are playing needs certain functions and enough RAM to hold up the keyboard, if your keypad isnt properly intgrated or the game associates different keys, you might go research.
Happy gaming, bro!

Re: Grapics lag problem
Hi,
Dont think it is overheating. I also have the same overheating while gaming and when my laptop is cool as a computer, it makes the robotic brr sound and lags. It is a problem with your motherboard. It got cracks or maybe your RAM dosen't have enough latency to provide more processes to the video card. The processor delivers the functions fast depending on it, so it is maybe your RAM and motherboard who are responsible for such ruckus.
GO FAST, get a check at a store, or check at home before the motherboard creates more problems!
Hope helps!

Re: Grapics lag problem
IF it still perists, reply again . And if you dont want your laptop to hibernate or brick down while gaming, give it some rest. Believe or not, any computer can be like a rig for gaming!
Re: Which is better for gaming and why?
Hi,
See, believe or not, video card and RAm is going to tweak those graphics for a gaming time! See, nvidia provides geforce for serious gamers, people agree. RAM can hold the game and make it run smoothly, which is a small motherboard-like functioner. It holds and accomodates the motherboard to send the processes in a better motion.
Hope it helps!
