Re: Can you install a SATA M.2 ssd in the HP Pavilion 14-bf023tu
Hello LSBreezey
Yes your Pavilion can have an m.2 sata ssd and an HDD together.
The m.2 slot is next to the ram modules.
Here is the manual with more detailed info.
Page 2 and page 35 explain...

Re: Write protected
There is a fix that might correct this.
Download USB Flash Driver Format Tool Ufix-II, III or V (one of these will work):
https://www.pny.com.tw/index.php?cls=7&mode=download
You may need to have 7-Zip installed to extract the .rar file. It is a free download.
http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
Extract the file and run it.
Overheat and restart
My new HP Notebook 17z-ak000 CTO overheats and restarts when I am playing a game with a CD in that drive. No issues when not using the CD. Can anyone help?
Re: Can you install a SATA M.2 ssd in the HP Pavilion 14-bf023tu
Hi Photoray002,
Looking at the manual it appears that the laptop cannot physically house both HDD and SSD at the same time. They appear to use the same place/space in the laptop. Any ideas?
Cheers
Re: Samsung SSD 960 EVO M.2 - PCIe 3.0, NVMe 1.2 1TB Model:MZ-V6E1T0BW
Hello
As far as I know it should but as I understand it, you wont get full speed out of it due to the port being compatible with both NVMe and Sata drives and using DMI 2.0. So I wouldnt get the Pro series.
Here is a link to an 840 G3 user stating his experience with an Evo 960...
Re: Can you install a SATA M.2 ssd in the HP Pavilion 14-bf023tu
No, thats if you use the 2.5 inch sata m.2 adapter bracket in place of the HDD.
But there is an M.2 port next to the ram modules...

Re: Failure ID: 6AGBTG-7Q492Q-XD7WMF-60VQ03
Thanks. Yeah the hard drive failing sounds like what should be happening... thanks for the advice on how to retrieve my data! I was going to follow-up with that since my laptop is beyond warranty (And I don't plan to replace that hard drive)
Re: Pavilion 14-ba079tx can upgrade ram to 16gb?
According to the Maintenance & Service Guide you can use 8gb sticks. Also looks difficult to take laptop apart to replace memory.

According to the Removal videos-yes it is a little difficult:

Re: Hard drive failed then replaced and getting 3F0 error code
To rule out problems with the Recovery Media try booting with a Windows 10 flash drive to see if it recognizes hdd.
Your Windows 10 license key is embedded in BIOS and you can reinstall Windows without Recovery Discs. Microsoft provides the free Media Creation Tool to download files and create a Windows 10 usb flash drive.Big advantage is you will have latest updated version of Windows 10. At least 8gb flash drive required:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Select Download tool now, and select Run.
If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10.
-------------------------------
When the flash drive is prepared insert it in a usb port. Power on the laptop and immediately start tapping Esc key. From the menu tap F9 key and use the arrow keys to move to and select usb. Tap Enter key.
When installing and you go through first few screens- choose Custom and select each partition and delete each (if you have more than one).Install on the unallocated space left from that process.Continue with installation. It should pickup the key from BIOS but if it asks at any point just choose "I don't have a key". It will continue and should activate once you are online.
This will not include the original software from HP but most of it can be installed from your Support page.

Harddrive error
Troubles with battery
Hi everybody,
I have a problem with my battery. It does not want to charge normally.
In most cases my battery doesn't charge after 70-80%, it shows "Plugged in, not charging"
But, despite this there are cases when it even so charging up to 99%. This happens randomly, there are no any regularity.
When I run battery test, either I see an error ID (PLU3HS-8KN92R-MFPX6K-C0F503), or I see - OK, passed. This also does not depend on anything.
Please help me to solve this situation.
My laptop is not even a year.
Regards to all.
Re: Query over SSD swap
Thanks for all your help Huffer much appreciated.
Re: Harddrive error
Hi,
This means the hard drive needs to be replaced. If you can still boot into Windows, backup all your personal data. If not, you can try to recover data once you have removed the drive attaching it to the PC with Sata to USB adapter. If you provide the exact model or product number for your PC, we can guide you through the removal and installation procedure.

You're welcome!
Re: Laptop Making Noise
So I tested the speaker. I plugged it in using a headphone jack and even disabled the drivers for it. I updated the BIOS as well. And the noise still persists.
I think the key to all this is whenever I type or use the touchpad the noise gets more intense. When I was trying the disable some drivers to test them out the noise increased as well.
Re: Upgrade Ram & SSD
Hi,
The max RAM for your systems is 16GB of DDR4-2400Mhz which will run at 1866Mhz (2x8GB)
On page 43 of service manual you can see the various steps to upgrade RAM. There are 2 slots and you a 4GB slot in one slot at the moment. You can use your prefered brand of RAM such as Crucial, Samsung.....
You can replace the 2.5" Sata£ drive with an SSD or you could use a M2 SATA3 SSD and keep the hard drive in the system for data storage. You will need to reinstall the OS on the SSD either by using HP recovery disks, migrating an image or downloading the media recovery tool from Microsoft, running and creating a bootable pendrive with the OS on it. Then use this pendrive to install OS. Windows will automatically activate.
You can also take a look at these HP videos which can help with any upgrade:
