Re: Upgrading ram on the 14-cf1502sa

You're very welcome.

There are operating system limits and hardware limits.

Theoretically, according to the chipset, the PC should support 2 x 16 GB of memory, and many times the crucial website indicates more memory is supported than the HP service manual does.

When they are both in agreement, it is dubious that 2 x 16 GB would be supported, and the only way to know for sure, would be to try a 16 GB chip and see.

I have no right to gamble with your money, so that would be a decision you would have to make if you wanted to experiment or not.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

  • When was the last time it worked without these issues?
  • Have you updated Graphics and Chipset drivers?
  • Have you checked the display on an external monitor?

let’s try these steps to resolve the problem:

I recommend you attempt to access the BIOS screen by tapping on F10 while the computer is restarting,

If the issue persists in the BIOS screen which is outside windows, it would confirm a hardware failure.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thanks for your responses Paul,

yes, suck it and see would be the only option,

but I'll go with 16Gb and see how much of that those pesky VST3 plugins eat out of that 🙂

Looking for battery replacement for older HP Pavilion dv7-6143cl Entertainment PC.  Serial # [edited], Product # LW181UA.   MU09 Notebook Battery, Model # HSTNN-UB2W says Replace with HP Spare 636631-001.   HP no longer offers the battery I need?  Found one that sounds appropriate on line, but it's 12 inches and mine is 8 inches.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let'd do a BIOS update first: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-spectre-13-4000-x360-convertible-pc/7527520/model/7791776/swItemId/ob-234699-1

If the issue persists, let's uninstall and reinstall the battery drivers:

1) In the search box on the taskbar, type Device Manager, and then select Device Manager from the list of results.

2) In Device Manager, expand Batteries.

3) Right-click on the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, and then select Uninstall device > Delete the driver software for this device check box > Uninstall.

4) Restart the computer.

Let me know if this helps.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution and Kudos buttons, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Thanks!

HP Notebook - 15-da0032wm is only 1 year old and so SLOW

HP Notebook - 15-da0032wm bought brand new Sept 2018, used for Hulu/Netflix streaming, Word, document saving, internet use. EVERY operation is so slow- opening word takes a minimum of 60 seconds, opening chrome is slow, typing in chrome address bar is usually delayed (as I'm typing, nothing shows up for about 3-6 seconds), starting up from sleep- login screen takes about 45 seconds to even appear. HELP!

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06242992

The memory upgrade info can be found in chapter 1.

Because your notebook as an A6 processor, there is only one memory slot and the maximum size memory module you can install is 8 GB according to the manual.

However, the Crucial memory site indicates that you can install a 16 GB memory module in the slot and they are usually correct.

Yes and no depending on where you are

HP 15-db0xxx machines use

  •   45 W AC adapter, nPFC, SMART, RC, 4.5 mm, non-slim part # 741727-001
  • 45 W AC adapter, nPFC, SMART, RC, 4.5 mm for use in Argentina part # 741553-852

and  HP 15-dw0xxx machines use

  • 45 W HP Smart AC adapter (non-PFC, RC, 4.5 mm, non-slim) part # 741727-001

Windows 10 running too slow.

I have a HP 15-be016tu Notebook purchased in 2017 that came pre-installed with Windows 8.1, although HP support says it has FREEDOS loaded on it. I installed Windows 10, which ran slower than a good PC. Than just a few months ago, I installed Windows 8.1, which runs quite fantastic, even though I have both Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 installed on the PC. The whole PC is in the stock form. I have installed windows 10 quite a few times, but it still runs slower.

The problems include in comparison to windows 8.1

1. 100% disk usage by system and other important windows services for sometime after starting, update or running a heavy application.

2. Slower bootup, sometimes faster in safe mode.

3. Slower loading just after startup, becomes insignificant after an hour or so.

Someone also suggested that it's because my PC has been optimised for Windows 8.1.

I want to know what can I do in both the cases.

@Banhien

Thank you very much, I appreciate your advice and link you you've shared here.

However, it brings me to the next few question.

I have looked at the HP Part Surfer, for the cable Part Number you have provided (929450-001), but it doesn't list my laptop model 15-dc0017nm (4TU33EA). It does list model 15-dc0017TX, which is the closest to one I have.

http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?searchText=929450-001

http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?searchText=4TU33EA

Also, i don't know if there is any relevance, but I have purchased my laptop in Croatia. Is it maybe possible that model I have has some limitations, due to region it has been sold to?

I cannot at the moment compare both sata cable part numbers, but isn't it any (visible) difference between them their length? Shouldn't the connectors and wires be identical;  and have same routing?

Regards,

SavoZG
