Hello We have a number of HP elitebook 840 G2's in service and we have had 100% failure rate on the batteries with the following issues:
Swollen - most have swelled so bad the cover popped off
No longer charging - the batteries would simply stop charging and within a few days swell up.
The total number of laptops that this happened to was 20.
I see there was a recall in the USA about the same issue and I was wondering if Canada would have the same recall. We have spent a lot of money on the laptops and then a fair amount again to replace all the batteries.
Hello David! thanks for trying to help.
I have done what you suggested me, my Laptop is a 15m-bq021dx.
Juan.
Yes that would be the maximum. Your Celeron model laptop has a single slot for DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM occupied now by a 4 gig module which could be replaced with an 8 gig module.
Start on p. 41 to remove back cover. Inside there is this:
memory slots circled in red
The picture shows 2 memory slots: you will have one and then the traces where a second slot could go but no clips there for a module.
I am also having the same problem! I have a HP laptop and the right hinge has broken meaning I can't close it. My friend had the same laptop and had the EXACT same issue a few months ago. I am so delicate with my electronics I'm gutted this has happened. It is out of warranty so what can I do? There are literally thousands of stories of the same thing so it's clearly a design flaw and not every customer's fault? Have HP done anything about this? What can i do?
Urgently yes it can:
Picture shows location of M.2 slot and RAM slots and M.2 slot can support PCIe/NVME M.2 2280 SSD:

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Well, you have to provide the full model number. 15-da0xxx is a model series and most laptops in that series will have a port for an M.2 SSD but not all. In all of them you can replace a 2.5 inch standard mechanical hard drive with a 2.5 inch SATA SSD however. But we would like to help you with advice tailored for your specific model if possible.
The model number is 13-4003dx and serial number 5CD5233WMS
Best Buy didn’t suggest anything. But I do know someone that suggested possible replacing the power jack harness cable? If nothing can be replaced individually then yes, I’m aware it would be better to just get a new laptop.
Hi Kumar, first of all thanks allot for the help bud. So i replaced my AC Adapter earlier today with a newer one and the issue's resolved! Again, thanks allot
Surface Pro 3 tips fit and work at least as well as the originals.
Enjoy.
This is a description of the screen:
33.8 cm (13.3") diagonal FHD IPS micro-edge WLED-backlit touch screen with Corning® Gorilla® Glass NBT™ (1920 x 1080)
HP only offers the screens as part of the entire hinges up assembly and either of these would work in your laptop:
HP laptop, 17.3 inch screen
I have installed M.2 SSDs in multiple dozens of laptops at this point. I have never seen a case where an M.2 slot can accept a PCIe/NVME and not alternately accept a SATA M.2. I believe this is inherent in the architecture of the hardware. But you ask:
have you read somewhere in my laptop's documentation that it actually supports both PCIe AND SATA 3 at the same time, so it doesn't matter what type of SSD I buy?
You can read it yourself in the excerpt of the Manual you posted. The list of possible M.2 SSDs includes a couple PCIe/NVME types and a SATA type. That is how the Experts here figure this out. There are also many cases where the laptop ONLY can take a SATA M.2. In that case all the HP Replacement parts mentioned in the manual will be SATA. That is not what is happening here.
So that is how we reached the conclusion that you can use either one.

wrote: Thank you sir , But the question is , is it an Express Card Slot for inserting eGPU by Express Card connection GPU dock
I did answer your question above :
None of them is suitable for an eGPU.
The above slot is for a memory card. Many people use SD cards, they have same shape and size (different capacity) as the following card. Nearly all digital cameras support this type of cards.

I upgraded my hp15ba model from e2 to AMD a12 motherboard. If I remove the charging cable and come back later to charge the laptop it will not show that it is charging and the charging light is off. I have to remove the charging cable and remove the battery. Then I reinstall the charging cable The light comes on and I reinstall battery it will charge until I remove the charging cable. Never had a problem until I upgrade.
Can anyone help? Do I have a bad motherrbord?
