Do you have any other advice, like changes the setting?

Thanks.

Thanks for the link, @Mrstenter!

Yes, W7 works just fine right now from the classic HDD

When i find some free time, i will try to apply new thermal paste on the cpu so that i will have time to run the HP Support Assistant. The notebook shuts off after 2-3 mins after boot, when the diode temp reaches 105 celcius so i will try to "buy some time" to run the application.

I will try to install W7 on the SSD.

And a roll-back to the first BIOS, as the last update does not help at all...

Hi:

That error probably means that you need to install the graphics driver from your notebook's support and driver page.

Hi all,

Thank you in advance lookig at my post.

Issue : corrupted bios with flashing caps lock.

tried :  Downloaded 01858.fd and 01859.fd bios files from HP site, and put it on USB stick formatted FAT16. Hold Window and B while powering up, and it should get the bios files from usb.

This laptop does not have any recovery partition on it.

Nudge !

I keep hoping someone will recommend a different part number TouchPad, one with the built in On/Off function !

Using the "disable TouchPad when USB Mouse is connected" works pretty good.

You can't. And shouldn't. This device is not a good idea. Think about it for just a second. On a desktop, the video card uses an x8 or x16 pci-e slot for the video and the external bay of that adapter is an x8 or x16 pci-e video card bay. On a laptop the wireless card uses the equivalent of an x1 pci-e slot. Now how is a one-lane road going to provide the traffic to fill up an 8-lane or 16-lane highway? It can't. The wireless slot would get so hot trying to do so it will melt the motherboard. Fortunately on your laptop that pci-e slot is a single purpose slot. It is wired such that all it can do is host a wi-fi card. It is not connected in any way to the screen is why you cannot detect it.

If you read the literature on that device carefully it basically says the same thing as I am saying above.

I am sure this is not the answer you wanted to hear but in order to get this out there on the internet and maybe keep others from going down the same blind alley you might want to hit "Accept as Solution". I have probably given this answer 3 or 4 times before and I either get angry feedback or never hear from them again. If somebody else had hit "Accept as Solution" there is a chance you would have come across it. What did that device cost just out of curiosity?

Certainly, 1-lane is going to be lower performance than x8 or x16. However, many are content with it as it gives better performance than their Intel graphics and even many lower end discrete graphics.

Your point about melting the motherboard is nonsense. The eGPU adapter that connects to the mPCIe port is a passive adapter that simply extends the pins out to an external PCIe slot. It in fact runs COOLER than the wifi card.

THe original point about mPCIe whitelisting still stands where the port is effectively disables by the bios unless a whitelist compatible mPCIe card is detected on boot. Can HP explain why that whitelisting is implemented which acts as a major impediment for users wanting to use the mPCIe slot for other purposes, eg: mPCIe, USB 3.0 cards, TV tuners, etc.

@bashful_llama

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message after the weekend from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publically post ( serial numbers and case details)

Cheers,

Wifi Disabled After Upgrade to SSD

I replaced original HDD on my ENVY M6 laptop with Samsung SSD. In order to be able to install Windows from a DVD I had to enable legacy support mode in BIOS. Windows installed successfully but it does not recognize the Wifi adapter. LED indicator on the F12 key is red. I tried disabling legacy support mode but this is preventing Windows from starting.

Any help is appreciated!

Replace Fan on Pavilion

$

I realise this is probably a general "fault" with most laptops but why the hell don't manufacturers build their machines with cooling fans that are accessible as all hard drives seem to be. Moving parts are obviously the most likely to wear or fail over time and, as far as I can see, there are only two types in a laptop, the HDD and the cooling fan(s).
Replacing a HDD can usually be done in an hour or two (eg. On a Pavilion G6 it requires the removal of two screws and careful replacement) but to replace a cooling fan one is looking at a good ten or twelve hours (eg. On a Pavilion G6 about the only part that does not have to be physically removed and put back is the screen, I lost count of the number of screws).
With repair shops charging as much as £80 per hour it is cheaper to purchase a brand new machine than pay to have a £20 part replaced. I suspect that this is a general ploy by all manufacturers ensuring that their customers replace their machines after warranty expires rather that attempt to repair a machine that is working perfectly but only needs a 4oz part replaced to get another couple of use from it.

Hi this is my first thread in toms hardware, I have problem with my power supply notebook. my laptop cannot power on if I remove the battery and use charger only, but if I use battery my laptop can turn on without issue so my laptop have to use battery for turn on and after my laptop running and I remove the battery my laptop still running with charger plugged in,, and if i charge my laptop when my battery <80% capacity e.g on 40% battery power my laptop underclocked Processor Speed to 800 mhz from 2.5 Ghz, I have changed power management in Windows setting and AMD Catalyst to running full speed when plugged in and charging but my laptop still underclocked. I have updated my bios with latest version but still underclocked. after 100% fully charged my laptop processor running in full speed at 2,5 Ghz... other that no issue in my laptop, everything running fine....

I'm never use my laptop for 3D gaming, mostly use for office, watching Video, Listen Music and Browsing

My Laptop Specification
AMD A4 3305M 1.9 Ghz Turbo Up To 2.5 Ghz (TDP 35 Watt) (Dual Core)
DDR3 2 GB RAM
HDD 500 GB
DVD RW
Bluetooth
14" Monitor

is it my charger underpower for power my laptop? my charger is genuine from HP with 65 Watt (18,5V and 3,5A)
should I buy 90 watt charger (19V and 4,74A)?
or My charger Defect? so my charger not power in 65 Watt like written in specification but running lower than 65 watt?

thank you

Sorry for my bad english

I have pavilion g6 2005ax laptop with 8Gb RAM (4+4). My problem is that the cpu temperatures even in normal usage average 90 degrees celcius. I have tried both Speccy and HW Monitor to check CPU temperatures and both give same results.  I even got laptop cleaned and heatstink replaced from the HP service center but I am still facing high temperature issue.
