That is exactly what I mean. Laptops do not have such a thing. Some very high end laptops have something called an MXM slot but almost all laptops are made with the video chip soldered to the motherboard permanently. How would you envision getting a desktop video card inside a laptop?

Re: upgrade cpu
Kindly look on the bottom of the notebook for the ProdID in the tiny print.
Post it here in your next replay.

These are the possible part numbers you can use, which are the best search terms when you are looking.

Re: EliteBook 850 G3 very slow , is it the low RAM ?
Could be a slow internet connection or even an SSD with the C: partition at greater than 75% of maximum storage capacity.
An SSD should never be at more than 75-85% of MAx capacity.
The virtual memory file that is used by the operating system to speed up memory operation is actually a file on the SSD.
Just adding RAM will not solve the issue.
When was the last time you deleted the files in the temp folder or used the Clean up disk utility?
Re: upgrade cpu
Press the power button and then start tapping the F10 key to invoke the BIOS.
In the System Information section of the BIOS, there will be a product number. Write it down and then press the F10 key to exit discarding changes.
Kindly post it here.
Re: EliteBook 850 G3 very slow , is it the low RAM ?
SSD load is only 13%, CPU: 50% | RAM: 90% | SSD: 13%.
Please note that I'm referring to task manager resource usage, check this one at this very moment :

Re: EliteBook 850 G3 very slow , is it the low RAM ?
I do not think you understood what I said. Please read it again.
8GB is plenty. There is probably also an @ 12GB virtual memory swap file on the hard disk.
I really don't care about task manager resource useage when your question was about something else.
Look at the network bandwidth in the task manager. The listed .1 mbps for the firefox browser is dead slow. It is get a cup of coffee network speed.
I am more concerned about what can slow down the browser response as it is more relevant to your described issue.
Re: My HP ENVY wife not supported 5G
wifi you mean not your wife, right? Yes you have a wireless-N-2230 card right now which is 2.4 ghz band only. Thanks for the picture it shows us that you do have 2 antennae so you can install one of the better wireless cards. This card was offered on your model from the factory:
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11ac 1×1 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter 710662-001
It does operate in the 5 ghz band but the 7260ac is an even better option:
Where are you located and we can help you find one to buy? You obviously have figured out how to get to where you need to be to install it. There is no BIOS whitelist issue on your model I know from personal experience as I uased to own a laptop in that model series and upgraded the wifi card myself.
Post back with any other questions and please accept as solution if its the info you needed.
Re: Loud Fan Noise - HP Pavilion x360 Convertible
Sir, you did not read properly. The problem is not bios, it's the fan! Please read properly! Bios is the least of my problems right now.
Re: I want to install an SSD in my laptop. Is there an extra connector on the motherboard?
Maybe. Here is the Service Manual:
Start on page 41 of the back cover. When you have it open, the extra slot for M.2 would be as shown here:
M.2 slot location circled in red
However, we have seen on the AMD models with A9 processor sometimes the actual slot is not installed on the motherboard at the factory. So before you buy anything open it up and check. If the slot is there you can use a SATA type M.2, not an NVME type. Something like Samsung 860 Evo.

Re: upgrade cpu
You own a dv6-7070el notebook.
The following processors are compatible.
I suggest using the HP part numbers(see below)
Re: upgrade cpu
thank you so much, and if i want to change wifi having a faster one?
Re: upgrade cpu
Unfortunately, your notebook has only the 1X1 antenna setup which won't work with a MIMO wifi adapter.
You would be better off buying a USB wifi dongle and plugging it into a USB port. They are available in such small sizes that you can leave it plugged into the port.
The following link shows an example of what I mean . It is an 802.11ac adapter with download speeds up to 867Mbps.

Re: install ssd on hp 15 bs 174 nia
Yes that is a SATA-3 M.2 and should be fine. Here is the manual:
Start on p. 41 to remove bottom cover.
This is what it is supposed to look like inside:
M.2 slot circled in red
Do yourself a favor and open it up and double check that the M.2 slot is there before you buy any upgrade parts.

Re: EliteBook 850 G3 very slow , is it the low RAM ?
Hi
I don't see any picture(s) posted, but if FireFox crawls along try Chrome.
If there are lots of things loading, try reducing them.
Sysinternals Autoruns.exe is an excellent way to see what is/has loaded. autoruns
AND adding RAM is not the solution.

I want to install an extra SSD in my laptop. Is there an extra connector on the motherboard?
I'd like to add a extra harddisk (SSD). And I have a few memorybanks I'd like to insert in my laptop. I'd like to make sure it's possible before opening up my laptop. Is this possible?
Is there a service manual for my laptop?
