Re: what type of m.2 slot is present in hp 15q ds-1001tu notebook laptop

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

HP 15 Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide

According to chapter 1, the M.2 slot supports both SATA and NVMe SSD's.

I recommend that you open up the notebook before buying a SSD and confirm the slot is there.

If you look at chapter 3 of the manual, additional parts are used to install the M.2 slot.

7) Hard drive/solid-state drive cable L20456-001
(8) Solid-state drive bracket                 L20458-001
(9) Solid-state drive connector board L20457-001

Hi@Eeagleman, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I understand you are having issues with the computer does not boot into Windows anymore. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

When you try to turn it on, do you hear the fan running? Or do you get any beeping noises/blinking lights?

Did this happen after a power surge or power outage?

Have you tried to connect this notebook to an external monitor?

Let's start off by performing a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data. Performing a power reset might fix conditions such as Windows not responding, a blank display, software freezing, keyboard stops responding, or other external devices locking up.

In the meantime, let's start off by performing a Hard reset on the Notebook:

Step 1: Performing a hard reset: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data. Performing a power reset might fix conditions such as Windows not responding, a blank display, software freezing, keyboard stops responding, or other external devices locking up.

Step 2: Connecting an external monitor to test the display

The notebook screen display might remain black when there is a corrupted graphics driver or a problem with the LCD display backlight. To test the display, attach an external monitor and restart the computer. Testing with an external display is helpful if the notebook display is black but you can hear sounds; such as fans, spinning drives, or beep tones that indicate the computer is operating.

Step 3: Attempt a Bios Recovery (Skip this step if you have already tried it).

Next thing, I would suggest here is to Run a System diagnostics test as well as an extensive test on the Hard drive and Memory from F2 (Please capture the failure ID for further assistance).

If all test pass turns off the computer.

As you turn it back on tap the F10 key. This will load BIOS setup utility.
Press F9 to load defaults.
Press F10 to save and exit.

For more assistance, please follow all the steps suggested in the support document for - HP Notebook PCs - Troubleshooting Black Screen Displays with No Error Messages During Startup or Boo...

HP PCs - Black or blank screen with blinking cursor after entering Windows password

For additional information, please follow this link: HP Notebook PCs - Computer Does Not Start (Windows 10)

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Click the “Kudos, Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

Have a great day!

Spectre 13-ae0xx shuts down randomly after battery replacement even with charged battery and AC

I have upgraded to latest BIOS. Windows is  updated and so are all drivers.

I replaced battery with OEM battery a few days ago. Ever since, I am getting random shutdowns  and even log shows many ACPI errors event ID 13.

Error 6/10/2021 8:11:05 AM ACPI 13 None

": The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. <snip>"

When it boots up it shows Event ID 6008 - Unexpected shut down.

The HP battery diagnostic test said cancelled "Calibration required" .

1) First I ran manual calibration with extensive memory test loop till failure.

2) After that HP diagnostic still said calibration required but now it showed an option for calibration

3) Ran that for 3+ hours

4) HP Support assistant Battery check says battery is working properly but for calibration I need to run laptop  for 3 hours with AC connected. The Laptop shut down before that.

5) So bought Smarter Battery tool that can do calibration. Started that but laptop died before completing it.

Please help me get out of this cycle. What do I need to do?

Sorry, but Windows Updates can fail for LOTS of different reasons and we do not have the information or skills here to diagnose and fix those failures.

If you look at the update history in Windows Update, you will see each update and a failure code.

You need to go online and do searches based on the failure code. You will get suggestions on steps that can be taken for each code -- just be sure NOT to download any apps or utilities, as these are often scams to take your money and will not fix the problems.

Ethernet port replacement

I was wondering if there is a replacement for the Ethernet port because on mine three of the prongs inside the Ethernet port are bent. This doesn’t allow for me to get a signal when I plug an Ethernet cable in.

so in this case stick to what is indicated by hp
if not, you can try, if that does not work if it is a good supplier, in general no history to reimburse!
Then you may not need 32 gb of ram

Add RAM

if my answer suits you, please validate by marking the solution

BIOS Flash for HP15-bw032wm

$

I am having some issues with doing a BIOS flash no current OS. I download the spxxxx BIOS file from HP using a secondary computer. I open the spxxxx file and it saves insydeflash to my second computer. I try to open insydeflash with the second computer to make a bootable USB drive for my HP 15-bw032wm but the second computer freezes indefinitely on opening insydeflash. I can extract files from insydeflash from my second computer though, including the .bin files. Am I doing something wrong trying to use insydeflash to create this? Can I flash BIOS from Windows Mini Environment using files(.bin or hpflashwinx64.exe) extracted from insydeflash and placed on the USB?
