Hi there,

My Elite x2 is only about 4 months old and for the first few months it was hardly used. Howere it has now developed a problem. The keys "p" and "c" are starting to bind when pressed and make a loud clicking sound. (I don't use the device with sticky fingers and havent spilled anything on the keyboard.)

Any suggestions as how to fix this please?

Cheers

Ric

Unable to reach HP Tech Support.

why is it then that every website that list the specs of the i7-7500 state that the max suported ram is 32GB?

They all seem to asume 2 slots... and yet state 32GB max. Intel does specify dependant on memory type but dont state which type has the limited/lower upgradeability.

I do also find it intresting that I havnt been able to find anywhere that "offically" list the max upgrade spec of the HP Notebook - 17-x115dx, whether it be on HP's site or not...

Some "moderators" on this forum might tell you to never post the serial-number of your computer.

Anyway, from: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04763947

"HP 15 Notebook PC -- Maintenance and Service Guide",

scroll-down to page 52, to get a _long_ list of supported CPUs.

It seems that you need to order a replacement motherboard to change the CPU.

From: http://support.hp.com/ca-en/product/HP-15-f200-Notebook-PC-series/7527799/model/9054498/document/c04791522/

you probably have: 2.16GHz Intel Pentium N3540 Processor with turbo boost up to 2.66GHz Quad Core

So, how much "faster" do you think that you need to go?

see page 21, for the various RAM sizes that your motherboard supports.

I don't see a listing for 16 GB sticks.

Of course, you could find an obliging owner/operator of a computer-store, and "try-before-you-buy" a pair of 16 GB sticks.

Problems with INTEL HD GRAPHICS 520 on a Notebook HP 15-ay065nl?

On my new HP 15-ay065nl I have serious problems with the windows: when I start an app, very iften the windows does not appear on top, but I have to minimize the windows that is on top to see it. After days oh hard work, I have concluded that there's a problem with the INTEL HD GRAPHICS 520 grafic unit: if it's disabled, and I use only the other unit AMD Radeon R5 M430, all problems desappear. What can I do? Is there a software or harware solution? Has the Intel processor to be changed?

It all depends on which version of Windows 10 you have installed.

If you have the original version of Windows 10 installed, reinstalling the AMD software driver should resolve the issue. Use the Recovery Flash drive or Recovery manager from inside a windows login as a source of the driver. Do not install the Intel driver seperately.

If you have an Insider preview version of Windows 10 installed, then reinstalling the AMD software driver from the HP support portal may not fix the issue.

From what I can tell from that, it is only a part # listing of OEM part #'s and their sizes. Meaning the largest stick size any of these were equipped with from the factory was 8GB. Asumeing they installed them in pairs 16GB would be the most ram sold in any  HP 17-x115DX from the factory.

Not a list of all of the memory in existence and their perspective sizes which would work for the purpose of upgrading beyond factory specs.

It would appear however, that if the cpu will support 32GB (providing HP didnt use substandard motherboards/not fully compatible with the CPU's) that they never sold any HP 17-x115DX with the max amount of ram...

This is a perfect example of where being too cheep to make owners manuals for each product in a product line with their full system capability's listed is a problem for the consumer. That problem is not limited to Hp tho...  I do remember that when I bought my laptop that Best Buy listed the max ram upgradability on their website, however they no longer carry the HP 17-x115DX and so that information is no longer available threw Best Buys website. It is a little harsh to blame them for not listing the information anymore when HP wont list it at all...

and unfortunately I can not remember with any certainty what the max ram Best Buy listed was, though I want to say it was 32GB. My failing memory isnt trustworthy enough to try to say for sure.

and not to mention doesnt even address ram and system compatability issues. I think one problem is that the 7th gen I7's are too new for the ram manufactures to have tested sufficiently yet.
