Re: Clicking noise from Notebook

$

Dear Customer,

The clicking noise is normally from the HARD DRIVES when there are about to FAIL and the below mentioned TEST confirms that the HARD DRIVE is Failed.

Whenever the Hard Disk Short/Long DST test fails that indicates that the Hard Disk Drive has failed and that requires a replacement to resolve the issue

This issue could be due to Application or driver conflicts, virus issues, file corruptions due to incompatible applications, improper shutdowns, update failures due to conflicts, sudden power surges, if notebook is dropped etc..

HP will provide a replacement Hard Disk Drive if the Notebook warranty is Active, If not you need buy a SATA Hard Disk Drive from a retail shop nearby

Please Contact HP if your HP Notebook is under warranty, HP would replace the Hard Disk Drive and provide you a Recovery media to restore factory operating system after replacement (if you've not yet created Recovery Discs/USB Media)

Note: Back up all the personal data to an external drive if it's possible. Otherwise you could connect the failed HDD via SATA to USB adapter with another PC or same PC after replacement of HDD & re-installation of OS and try copying /recovering the files. You can also refer to the below shown link for further support

Here is the Service Manual:

Manual

See pages 30 and 33. Yes there is a slot for an M.2 SSD disk, either the NVME (PCIe) kind or the SATA kind and the slot is next to the battery on the left. So you can keep the hard drive and add an M.2 disk. It is a 2280 form factor.

Please let us know if there are any other questions.

If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Need an exact model number but the hard drive likely has a problem and may need to be replaced. Can you get into diagnostic mode by tapping esc and then f2 as you power up?

How do i find the specs on my HP laptop

$

I have a

HP Pavilion 15-e063so

that i am considering to replace.

I am trying to find the hardware specs on it, but with no success.

When I search for specs online, what pops up seems to be specs of a model currently in stores - whereas my laptop is three years old.

How do I find the specs?

Hello,

One of my USB 3.0 port from my laptop stated above is not functioning. I have 2 USB 3.0 ports and 1 USB 2.0 port.

Here is the information under "Universal Serial Bus controllers"

- Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.0 (Microsoft)
- USB Composite Device
- USB Composite Device

- USB Root Hub (xHCI)

I had searched a lot of ways from Google, but it doesn't seem to be working.

Thank you.

Hi,

Can you tell us from where did you find this information DDR4-2133MHz !

Please share if you have any HP document.

Also share the PRODUCT NUMBER of your PC to help you.

As the per HP 15 Notebook PC Service Guide it only tells us about only DDR3 and not DDR4

HI.

The SLOT DDR3 are not compatible with DDR4, I leave the technical characteristics of their chip:

Speed: 1600MHz (PC3-12800)
Technology: DDR3 SDRAM
Pins: 204-pin, Gold Connectors
Form Factor: SODIMM (Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module)
Module Dimensions: 67.6mm x 30mm (LxH)
Data Integrity: Non-ECC
Ranking: 1R, 2R, 4R
Voltage: Low - 1.35V
CAS Latency: You will receive memory with the correct CAS Latency for your model

Regards.

Re: What is the correct RAM module for HP Omen 15-AX033DX ?

Hi,

I checked few documents. All suggest to go for Single Rank Memory because

1. Single Rank Memory is faster than Dual Rank Memoryis faster than Dual Rank Memory

2. Recommend you going with the higher density version since it's the newest version for DDR4.

3. Single Rank Memory is cheaper than Dual Rank Memory

Bascially they recommend 1Rx8 which contradicts your recommendation. Please correct me if i am wrong.

Hi:

You require JMicron Media Card Reader Driver

I believe the W8.1 card reader driver should work.

Set your own conclusions A one-sided module is always a single range. A double-sided module can be single-rank, dual-rank or quad-rank.

The place where the memory module fits on the slot is called NOTCH
DDR-3 NOTCH is different from the DDR-4 NOTCH

DDR-4 will not fit inside the MEM slot
