Replacing the fan requires a complete disassembly of the notebook. You will need jewelers screwdrivers,  steady hands and lots of patience.

 

Use the HP Partsurfer to discover which fan/heat sink assembly part number is required for your specific notebook. It is a simpler and very specific method. Once you have the correct part number use Google or Bing to find an online vendor who has the part you need.

 

Search by using the serial number of your notebook. Use the following link.

From the Maintenence & Service Guide: ( getting the correct part number is dependent  on the configuration of your notebook as seen below)

No, its original screen: 39,6 cm (15,6") High-Definition LED HP BrightView Display (1366 x 768). I don't think HP has any dv6 or dv7 laptop which has screen 16+

I suppose that the two laptops are identical on hardware level (except for the video card).

The two SSDs are FULLY compatible with the listed laptops?

I have an Envy 15 x360 PC Touch. I can't remove the battery, it's not like a typical laptop where you can easily remove the battery and I don't know how to do it with this one. I have 7% left on my battery and it's plugged in, not charging. The light near the input for the charger is blinking white.

Hello 

 

I am having G56 Notebook. OS  Windows 7 (64 bit), Processor Pentium R Dual Core CPU T4500 @2.3 GZ.

 

I want to install Oracle Virutal Machine (OVM) with 64 bit. But when I installed OVM  in drop down box there is no 64 bit.

 

It has only 32 bit.

 

Can you please tell what setting I have to do it.

I bought my laptop in a best buy store in 2014, it had windows 8 pre installed.  Recently my hard drive have crased and so i have to repalce the hard drive. I want to activate the windows 8 again, but don't find the product key.  The microsoft support detect the product key isn't into the BIOS.  Please help me to get my windows 8 product key back   Thank.

i currently dont have any drive in ssd slot. Slot was always empty.. and i dont think i have IRST.  

So will a 500 gb drive work ?

It was one of the possibilities that the SSD was the culprit, it probably was not going into shutdown regardless of command, it slowly drains the battery in sleep mode perhaps. New SSD NVME BAD DRIVERS FIRMWARE combo probably caused all this. Regardless, I'm very happy mine was fixed, other than this (and the lack of non-touch screne option), this laptop is a dream for the price.  Hope it works for you guys!

 

BTW, incase you guys missed in my last post, my set up is BIOS version F.04, fast startup is actually on, bios usb charge is off. 0 battery drain after shutdown.

So far this fix has helped me get rid of the annoying z-drive (and WAN miniport drivers) problem. I downgraded AMD SATA Controller from v. 1.3.1.277 to 1.3.1.276. After that the z-drive simply stopped showing. I restarted +100 times and still no Z. I then updated to 1.3.1.277 again and the z-drive went back. Downgraded again and I haven't seen Z since.

i am wondering if there is a G2 socket motherboard (PGA_988b) that will work with the G7-1019wm?

 

I have currently ungraded the CPU from the p6300 to the i3-380m ($5 on ebay)  but the OEM G1 socket motherboard limits me to the i7-640m but i want to get into the next gen i-series so the built in graphics are better but i have to have a G2 socket motherboard..

Product number: K3F63EA#UUZ

The Bios installed is F.38 Rev.A, which is the latest I can find (July 16)

 

Running the diagnostics, just reports that there is no disk installed.

 

Is there a bios limitation on the size of the SSD?

G'day peeps and creeps, i have the pavilion dv6 with 1 terabyte hd and bluray disc player, a few months ago i foolishly upgraded from windows 7 to windows crap so a week ago i reinstalled to windows 7 and that went well, except i was having really bad heating issues so i took it apart and cleanded the fan and reapplied new thermal paste and that went well except for one thing, i now get an error message about an unknown usb device so i went into the device system list and sure enough it says usb unkown device, so i tried all the usb port and they worked fine and the usb content came up and i could access and add or delete at will in all 4 of them so i checked the drivers for them and they are up to date aswell so i am at a loss right now about that but i just now discvered a new problem, my disc drive wont acknowlege blurays, i watched a bluray the other day and that was fine then last night i watched a standard dvd and that was fine but when i got home this afternoon i went to watch a bluray and all it did was make a bunch of noise and wouldnt do jack so i took it out and tried again, same thing so i put in a dvd and that worked perfectly like normal so i took that out and tried the bluray disc again and just more noise and nothing else, i really like this puter so i am hoping that its not stuffed too bad but i am at a loss about these two issues, especially the bluray one so any help would be greatly appreciated and sorely needed.

please help.

After all it was a premature judgement.

 

in less than 24 hours 100% to 85% even after latest BIOS and USB disabled at BIOS. No Go!
